Not only is it a fascinating insight into what our parents/grandparents lived through, to me it also embraces the whole moneysaving ethos, back to basics not the luxury lifestyle that society has come to feel is a necessity whether they can afford it or not.

I nominate Compound for telling everyone that HSBC is now going to scrap interest free overdrafts for graduate accounts - the charges will come in in July so there's still time for people to switch and avoid being stung.
