Sky cancel and rejoin in partners name

Options
Is there a flaw in my plan?

I wish to cancel my sky - simply because its too expensive. I've called up and the best they could offer was line rental for £1 - no discount on TV or broadband.

New customers get better offers and we had a flyer through this week with some of those offers (it was in the name of 'the occupier').

Could I cancel sky, work out my notice, and ask my fianc!e (different name for now) to re-register as a new customer and receive the offers?

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • The account is with the household - so basically you are asking "should I commit fraud?"

Do you have any authority to support the claim that the "account holder is the household"?

I have no "authority" to support the claim made above but the way I understand it -

Sky requires that the box be plugged to a landline 24*7 so that they can monitor that the service is being used at the address / household mentioned in the account. There is no requirement for the sky box to be plugged to the account holder's mobile phone connection all the time - that would have given the impression that "an individual" is the account holder, not the household.

BTW, I am tired of living with a 6 year old netgear modem (that is now unable to broadcast WiFi signal beyond the room where it sits due to old age related health issues) which Sky refuses to replace unless I pay them ££. And who would not want to take advantage of "new" offers for "new" customers despite being an "existing" customer? Not me!

Thankfully, I am moving soon and hope to subscribe as a new customer at the new address (missed doing that 3 years ago when I moved to where I am now).

IIRC when you join as a new customer one of questions/terms is whether there is/has been an account within the same household.
