Sold a phone online, I said it was 9 out of 10 buyer says 7
The phone was 6 months old, the buyer says the sides of the phone are scratched and there is very minor scratches on the screen so he wants a instant refund then to return the item, disregard the fact he wants a refund first but what would you do? I cannot afford to refund and feel I honestly described the item, I have pictures of the sides unscratched and offered a new battery case as he says that is scratched
This person has far more feedback than me on the website I sold it on

Never offer a descriptive method that is subjective when on eBay, 9/10 to me means mint like new, no scratches or marks.
You should use the same words eBay uses, and just say "used, with minor signs of use, otherwise in good condition".
Did you specify the phone was used under the eBay descriptors?
If the buyer goes for SNAD, you might struggle to fight it, do you have high resolution images? I would perhaps try and point the buyer to eBays rules on what constitutes "used" if you did use the descriptor in the auction.
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/contextual/condition_11.htmlUsed
An item that has been used previously. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended. This item may be a floor model or store return that has been used. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
Signs of cosmetic wear are acceptable as long as it is fully operational, and eBay won't accept SNAD for cosmetic wear.
If the phone was scratched more than you described, then it would be better to just refund and list again more accurately.====0 -

Best option may be to get the seller to return it, refund him when it returns and then sell it again. Remember to check the IMEI to be sure the phone returned is the one you sold.
If it was paid for by PayPal and they dispute it you could have the money taken anyway.0 -

It was bank transfer, I dont think the seller is scamming just overreacting.
I even offered to pay for a new casing but he said it cant be done0 -

Got the phone back and the "damage" was literally a tiny dot on the case where you open the battery compartment with your finger and the battery cover hides it anyway!!0

Sounds more like the person changed their mind and tried to come up with a reason to get a refund knowing you can't just say 'Oh i've changed my mind' via I assume eBay.0
