Parking Eye - Northampton Court

AssistanceRequired
Evening All,
Apologies if I don't get all the details right first time - first time poster!
My partner and I have received letters stating we overstayed in a car park being monitored by Parking Eye around October last year. It was 120 mins free parking but we received letters to state we overstayed by around 12 minutes (we're new parents so weren't quick getting back to the car with our little one). We visited the shops on the car park and if we did overstay it wasn't malicious.
I was about to pay the 'charge' but found various forums / watchdog videos advising to ignore the letters that came through from Parking Eye and their legal firms. The charges have gone up, up, then down again, and now we've received a Claim Form - marked ' Northampton County Court'. I've been given 14 days to respond. It doesn't seem right to be charged £150 for 12 minutes so I'd like to challenge this.
I've had a look around a few of the other topic but would welcome any advice on how best to approach this / fight my corner!
Thank you so much for your help!

Get a defence put together and ask for time to do it.
Over on pepipoo there are about a dozen of more PE court case threads - they have been busy. My suggestion is to read these - they go over 2 or 3 pages and are current.
Not trying to duck out, but they are already up and running on there and if you want advice that has been thought out, visit there while waiting for comments here.0 -
Over a hundred like this being defended by pepipoo I think at the mo.

I added a smiley face above because that is the way to go I am sure. No point just paying against these bullies IMHO (although it is your money and your time/peace of mind of course), especially as even if they win they can only claim under the POF Act, the amount on the Notice to Keeper plus court fees. Could be as little as an extra £15 bulk processing claim, plus a hearing fee and maybe £50 expenses if the judge allows that. And that's IF they win which is not a fait accompli with a decent defence.
Pepipoo are very busy at the moment with these, so here's some info which may help to start with:

My post #23 gives links to examples summarising what to do and a few pointers of what to consider. Acknowledge the claim & say you will defend in full!

Also people have had success by COMPLAINING to the retailer/occupier of the car park about the harassment (but you must still acknowledge the claim in time, of course, or you hand them a default win).
Was it Aldi?!!
Finally, if the baby is under 6 months your wife has some protection under the Equality Act 2010 Maternity provision, in particular if she stopped to breastfeed the baby.
Even if not then 12 minutes is such a tiny overstay it doesn't take account of the BPA Code of Practice (read it!!) requirement for a Grace Period.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
