I suppose getting 13yrs out of a washer without any repairs I have been lucky. As the family have all left home there is only me now and with so many washers out there really don't know what to chose will only get used twice a week. Have seen some with a 5yr warranty obviously this is written in the price, any ideas from you kind folk.

Olive,
You might get more response if you ask this question in the 'In My Home' section of the forums. (Next but one down after this 'Techie Stuff' subforum in the main 'Forums' list.)

EDIT
From the vast number of responses below I was plainly talking out of my pipe! You can lose a loose goose.
You cannot loose a lose goose.
Get it? Now use it before you lose it.
or - Try using it - not losing it.0 -
As above.
May I be the first to suggest Bosch!0 -
Bosch or Siemens for me too0

i have just replaced my old zannusi washer it was used daily for around 9 years.
i bought a hotpoint i dont expect it to last as long as the zannusi though, hotpoint offer a 5 year part guarantee but they charge a huge call out fee0 -
Subscribe to Which for a £1 (and cancel before normal subscription price) as they do great product reviews.
Try Which?® Today for £1
I've found Whirlpool and Zanussi reliable. (though my current Zanussi was £549 new:eek:)
(Beko in the news puts me off and the Washing line of shame Hotpoint would be put me off them too. Bosch have had some probs too)0 -
Beware of "warranties"
Most manufacturer offer 1 year parts and labour (which is the standard thing in life) then switch to 4 years parts only. Parts cost pennies, labour costs the pounds along side call out fees most are only worth as much as it takes for them to be washed through the washer and fall apart.0 -
had a Bosch washing machine for 7 years now hasnt missed a beat. used to buy hotpoint out of habit and i was lucky to ever get 4-5 years without the bearings collapsing. some of the cheaper washers are just crap, try and buy the best you can afford, i know people who buy a new machine every 3 years or so,0

hi,
I recently had to replace my washer too, read some good reviews for gorenje... however first one supplied and its subsequent replacement made some gruesome noises on wash... so gave up and decided to go for a bosch. So far so good with the bosch..

Shocking! Go back to the shop immediately and claim a refund or replacement for a faulty product!
Seriously though, I have a Bosch Classixx washing machine and a Bosch Exxxcel diswasher and neither have given any trouble over teh last 5 years.0
