Hi Gear Atakama 5 tent any good?

Ive been invited to a few days camping with my parents and sisters. It will be just me and my two little ones (5 & 3)

I am not a big tent person as i've never been able to sleep comfortably in one. But think this would be a lovely weekend away for the kids if I can manage.

I went to go outdoors today and saw this tent and thought it might be ideal for 3 nights because I doubt I will use it again afterwards. I'd have a caravan but I'm too scared to tow one!

The reviews I've found seem ok but thought I would also ask here.

Also I haven't been camping since I was a teenager with the air cadets. What do I need to take? That sounds daft but just wondering if there is anything that i'd miss.

If your camping next to family, find out what they are taking first. You may be able to share. I started a thread the other day about camping. I have posted my list. It may help you.

Just for sleeping it would be ok. However storage space is minimal as is living space, so not much fun if its raining and you need to entertain kids in the tent

My parents are going in their campervan. And we are visiting family down there so I think its really only going to be for sleeping in but I will check with them.

I would love to have a little t25 and take them away in that but I can't afford one yet!

Thank you for that link OMO I will take a look now :)

Having had another look at the tent, I think you would be better off with something like this. It is £25 dearer but the extra space you get is well worth it.

You could all sleep at one end and use the other to store your bags and get dressed etc.
The reason I have a larger tent is I can't stand living in a mess all week.

ETA . This tent would also be easier to put up. Tent with bars that cross over are always more difficult.

This is the o-line list I use.

Hi gear are rebranded Gelerts. They are at the more affordable end of tents and are therefore constructed of materials to achieve the lower price point.

If the weather is fine and sunny any tent is fine, cheap tents suffer in gales and heavy rain as the thin material and cheap poles fail.
