Application Tesco Credit Card - asking for company name

I'm applying for a Tesco Credit Card. On the application they ask for the name of my employer.
Do I need to put the name of the company that's on my payslips or the name that appears on my bank statements when they pay my salary?
Thanks!

You've gotten me curious as to what they are now? Assuming you are just talking different trading names/ sub brands of the same overarching legal entity it really wont matter. They are more likely to phone than ask for bank statements and so give the name that Reception or HR would answer the phone as.0

My salary is paid into my bank account by an outsourced payroll / HR consultants company (Quin-Essence Limited) on behalf of my company. I guess I'll just put my actual company rather than Quin-Essence.0

Just to update - I put the name of my employer and was just accepted. Happy days :-)0

I doubt they check - the name of my employer won't fit in most of their boxes, I have to abbreviate. I also always put the company headquarters, rather than where I'm actually based.
I assume that, if it's a referral, they'll look into it more. Either that or it'll be for National Hunter checks, perhaps.0 -
Yep, doubt they even check.0

They rang the company I worked for and asked for me (the day after I applied), they seemed quite happy they got through to me. They asked me to confirm that I had actually applied for the card and the approximate date and time that I had applied, and by what method. Guess it's a fraud prevention thing.0 -

Bingo
This is why it's important to include correct telephone numbers, always give an accurate salary etc, otherwise applications can be delayed or declined.0 -
That's quite interesting,
I always give head office number and address for my company when asked. I am not contactable whilst at work and surely HR wouldn't give out any details over the phone without authorisation (or at least they didn't when I was tenancy referenced, I had to authorise release of data before they would fill in form)
Presume if they can't get through they just do some further checks?Budgeting CC balance £0
