    I buy my phones outright.
Yes, expensive but means I can sell it after a year/two years and make to thirds/half back.

Sim only contract (30-rolling) paying £10 a month which bags me Clubcard points as well.

I change my phone every two years, sometimes slightly longer depending on what is coming out / has just been released.
  • I've only ever had an outright purchased phone and separate SIM, with the latter currently on a 30 day contract basis. My old phones lasted until their buttons became worn out, sometimes with the aid of replacement batteries, I am not sure how long the current iPhone 5 will last.

My last contract on Orange was first time I had a phone that did everything I wanted, after almost 2 decades upgrading early and buying handsets to get new features technology eventually caught up and smartphones have it all, will save me a bob or two onwards ;):D

I used to upgrade at the end of the contract, but got an iPhone 4 last time round which I just kept at the end of the last contract and went sim only saving £27 a month. I've had it nearly three years now and have no intention of changing it now until it breaks.

Yup isn't smartphoning great ;) Solid built mobiles in the last few years with all the features one could want :) £27 a month saving, brilliant !!

I went to EE(4G) and got a contract there as Orange wanted £35 a month for EXACTLY the same £21 a month deal as its sister EE(4G) lol £5 roaming a month as per needed too ;) SWEET mother of god EE, get a grip of yourself :rotfl:

Easily once a year to maybe 13-15 months. I am usually bored from the 6 month point. It seems to be slowing down as manufacturers are starting to extend the time they support their handsets with updates though and rightfully so.
  • Sounds like I am the only terminator breaking his phones :rotfl:

In the past I've upgraded at the end of my 12 - 24 month contract. Im now on a sim only contract as I'm happy with the phone I have and wont replace it unless it breaks.

Aye, Sim only plan for me as well.

I totaled up the costs for an HTC One (I both need a good phone due to my profession, and wanted a good phone) on 24 month contract, and then on Sim only + handset.

Was about £120 cheaper and I have the benefit of changing providers easily (which I plan on doing). So I bought the phone sim free on 0% financing.

I change phones once they start to die. Which is around 24-30 months for me.
