So the assistant was only doing her job as the item was not allowed to be sold - fair enough. BUT someone had not done their job correct as surely the item should have been removed from the shelves to stop this happening. Therefore if you feel you want to OP I think you do have reason to write to / call the head office to tell them of your experience.

Personally I don't think I would go to the hassle but you may get a free packed of wine gums out of it :)

things get missed all the time, there could be lots of reasons why it wasn't taken off the shelf.

a customer could have dumped them elsewhere, then someone found them and put them back on the shelf after they had been wasted.

Usually this happens when the system is showing a stock level, but none were found on the shelves when they were counted

yes i think basically she was a sad jobsworth, and prob put them all now in staff room. next time i see her i will ask her again what she meant and make my feelings felt.

So you're going to be a massive !!!!!! to the girl, just because she did her job?

Get a life and let it go. They don't have to sell to you, and if you'd got a cob on with me I'd have had you out by security.

And no, I don't work in retail.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be annoyed. No doubt about that.
Just not really fair giving someone on minimum wage a hard time for a policy from Head Office that makes no sense. :)

That's a surprise given your charm and wit.
