Twitter comps - am I wasting my time?

Hi all

Recently have been making more of an effort with comping but only won a couple of small things despite entering absolutely 100s! Some nail art tattoos and Affinage Hair Trio is all I thik in the last couple of months (aside from a bottle of Moet from a real life work conference!).

So to my question. I've been entering a lot of RT competitions on Twitter but despite my tenacity and entering gazillions of the things, I'm never selected and it's always people with 100s or 1000s of followers who are. Am I wasting my time as I have less than 100 followers? It doesn't seem fair but is that how most of the companies are choosing their winners?

Welcome your thoughts...

in the words of QI nobody knows, the main reason for not winning seems to be the sheer number of entries

I think I've won twice on twitter, only reason I still enter them is because it only takes a second, if I had to put any effort into twitter I would have given up by now tbh.

I always see the same people winning time and time again on twitter.

I have less than 100 followers, and I've had 2 twitter wins.

Personally, I try to limit my twitter comps to 35 per day, because the odds of winning are pretty low in most cases. I'd rather spend my time on effort-based comps, because the odds are more in my favour.

Thank you all for such quick responses. Nice to hear that a couple of you are winning so it's not a complete waste of time necessarily! Just frustrating isn't it. I suppose I just figured if I've entered 100s and 100s of competitions, then surely the odds state I should have had a win... patience was never my strong suit!

I'll keep going and report back if I get lucky! :)

my average is one win per 1200 comps I enter.

I enter 100s on twitter but have yet to win anything - its all down to chance

I reckon that you need to enter thousands and thousands, rather than hundreds and hundreds. You might get lucky on twitter if you search on twitter for any local businesses having a competition to win a few drinks at a local bar or something. They will get less entries.

I don't bother with Twitter anymore - I wasn't winning so decided to give up on them - never looked back! I have more time to enter non-twitter comps or more time for a magazine and a latte with my feet up!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

    i've won one so far
was actually my very first win

i also enter as it's literally a click of a button
i use 3rd party sites too so takes seconds
but sometimes they have thousands of retweets
so i guess odds are stacked against

i have noticed one or two people who seem to
win alot on there and they do have alot of followers
so i'm not sure if it counts towards anything or not

i will keep going though eventually my name will
    pop up again
