Will the nails of the grippers hold in laminate.
If they do and you ever get rid of the carpet the edges and surrounding area of the laminate will be ruined pulling the grippers up.
Reverting back to laminate will leave a big gap under your doors.
If i take the laminate up the underlay and carpet will be on tiles/ concrete base. I am erring to take up the laminate as I don't like the idea of carpet going over laminate. need advice please.
My underlay and carpets, in the rooms I have them, are on a concrete base.
My carpets have never sweated so I think your fitter is talking !!!!!.
Some tradesmen, while they can charge for something, rather not do the job at all due to the hassle. (Yeah I know he's your FIL.)
Other posters have pointed out the edging around the laminate will need to be removed and possibly the room door(s) may need adjusting.
This is a bigger job than simply stripping the laminate itself and making you take it to the local tip.
I'm not cynical I'm realistic
