Watch out tesco are at it again.

I don't buy much from Tesco but I do buy their value lemonade, one of the few lemonades my son will drink.

Last week 17p a bottle, today 24p a bottle, so on a quick work out that is an increase of over 30%.

So last week Tesco were throwing themselves at this Fare Share, to anyone who hasn't seen it they were asking customers to donate food - bought in Tesco, to food banks and they would donate 30% of the value raised to the charity.

Now this week, in hot weather they are slapping an increase on of more than 30% on a product likely to be bought by people on low incomes
.
Why am I cynical of their motives?

I hate it when they do this it seems to mainly effect the value products. They often put the price up on value products and even though it can be seen as only as few pence as you rightly point out the percentage increase is huge. If they applied the same percentages to their finest range they would not be able to sell those products.

Actually, you could. I used to buy the value lemonade back in the 90's and it was about 17p then, so 24p is still a damn good price considering how much the cost of food has gone up.
  • Absolutely agree, but some don't like anything to get in the way of a bit of Tesco bashing!!!!

I'm sure we used to buy safeway savers lemonade and cola around 15 years ago at about 20p a bottle.

    Absolutely terrible behaviour from tesco!
In general it is people without much money who buy the cheap stuff anyway and are the worst affected by these kinds of things - tesco are already making massive profits!

It'll be back down again after the warm weather so the can advertise a big price drop on it.
