This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all:j:j
Warm and sunny here again this morning :j:j
It was another hot one here yesterday,
Dinner last night was cold roast pork and chips.
No meal plans yet for today , I need to have a think about dinner tonight.
Today Iv got to go to school for twin One, Its her last forest school.
I went for twin two a few months ago if you remember. i don't have to go until this afternoon.
This morning I have some tidying to do around the house.
We are still waiting for our tax credits award to come, It been five weeks yesterday since my wife phoned up with the new info, We are hoping they get sorted soon.
I feel worn out today, I think its the hot weather, Yesterday afternoon, I felt very worn down, And all of the cut on my head hurt, Its all healed up very nice, But was painful for a few hours yesterday, My wife thought that maybe the plate had expanded with the heat and that made it hurt,
I don't think that right but I shall ask if that can happen in the heat when I go to see them in September Just In case.
The fluid build up that I was getting on a morning under the skin around the wound has not stopped. They said it would over the coming months, But its seemed to of sorted its self out a lot sooner. It all feels a lot more settled down now.
Well I hope that you are all having a great time with the sun!
Enjoy your day, I'm off for a read of yesterdays daily now.
Enjoy:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning Halight & all who cross/follow
Off to work soon, fish fed, packups made, washing on the line & DW loaded.
We've run out of money & have 3 weeks left 'til payday, lol, we knew it would happen, we were expecting a tight month, we have food in the cupboard, fruit & veg in the garden & the bills are paid so we'll be fine.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning everyone
Feeling very sorry for myself as I managed to fall over yesterday and am black and blue plus seem to have pulled something in my arm, which is very painful. That together with the heat did not make for a good night's sleep. Am off today and I think I need to call into A&E to get someone to take a look at my arm, main problem is movement and I can't fully straighten my elbow and with it bent, can't move my hand higher than my chest. That was fun trying to eat last night! Anyway I will try and get it checked out and report back later.
Thanks everyone for comments and suggestions about endowment problems yesterday. This issue is down to DH burying his head in the sand for years and ignoring warning letters, he convinced himself it would be ok and as mortgage is in his name only, I had no true idea of the problem until I took over all of our finances 17 months ago. I am very stubborn and really do not want to extend this debt if we do not need to, plus we are in a self managed debt management plan and still owe around £50,000 in unsecured debt so I can't see anyone wanting to lend us more money. Standard Life are driving me around the bend and cannot give us any true prediction of the shortfall, it's all ifs and maybes and despite their profits, they have lowered the interest yet again. It looks like worse case scenario is we will owe approximately £9000 and it could be much worse, like Hester's friend owing £40K! The next year will be a struggle and it will slow down our debt busting but it does give us the opportunity to be mortgage free in less than 12 months then return to throwing every penny towards our debt. We will get there in the end.
No idea what is for dinner but it will be something out of the cupboard, fridge or freezer and DH will be cooking or preparing it, possibly a potatoless tuna nicoise salad. Need to get something to eat now so I can take some pain killers then get ready to go to hospital.
forever saving - I hope your daughter is recovering and can return home today.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Sunny, bright and warm start to the day here. Plants to be watered.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was delicious roasted sausages, HG minted new potatoes, carrots, peas, green beans and gravy. Dessert from the tins/fridge for those that had room. Tonight we are having gammon, egg, mash and veg.
Work yesterday was really quiet for a Monday then had an influx of people at 10.30am and it didn't really stop for the rest of the day - couldn't believe how quickly the day passed though! Hoping today will not be quite so busy but more of a steady flow.
Have calmed down a bit but am still cross that our friend has been upset by thoughtless and nasty comments. Hoping it's all going to settle down as it's really not nice - I find anything like this really difficult as those that are causing the most trouble are in the deep doo-doo for something they have been involved in and should have sorted and they buried their heads in the sand and now it's come back to haunt them. Our friends who are being upset and ourselves are nothing to do with the mess either. Personally I think they are trying to deflect the attention away from themselves as they know if the true story gets out they are all going to be in the limelight in a not very favourable way.
Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!
Keep safe and well x

Forever Saving - hope DD is doing well x
TTFTM - sounds like you need to get that arm checked out. Rest up today x
Hugs for a good day xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

Morning all,
Another scorcher here, could get used to this, will have a hunt round in a while for some washing.
TTFTM ouch poor you, let us know how you get on xx
FS how is your dd ?
Need to have a quick tidy round thid morning, and go a bit of office work, then I am going to see my dad and help with his lunch.
I am looking after a friends chickens up the road, I have to pop in once a day and feed and water them, she told me to take any eggs, I have had 6 or 7 a day so far, also to pick any fruit that is ready (they are away for 2 weeks and the fruit would be rotten by the time they get back) yesterday I got a huge tupperware full of strawberries and rasperries :T and 6 eggs ! the chickens are lovcely things, and I find myself chatting away to them while I am there, I would get some if I had the time for them, but its just not possible atm.
Dinner tonight is gamon steak, will do a nice fresh egg with itand some cubed garlic spuds and salad or peas.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning All
Lovely sunny day again! Yesterday, DD, her South African pal and I went to the Island of Cumbrae for the day. We drove to get the ferry and took the bikes with us. The cycle around the island was fabulous and the sea breeze took the edge off the heat. Had lunch in a little bistro (a long wait, they seem to have 2 speeds - slow and stop!). It was a lovely day.
Washing still on the line from yesterday but I am about to get it in to iron it before it gets too dry again.
FS - Hope DD is recovering and will be home soon.
TTFTM - Take care of yourself.
Hugs to all those not feeling so good. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone :j it's another scorching day here in sunny North Devon. I've been up since 5 and I've managed to get 2 loads of washing out on the line and filled the dishwasher, packed hubby and 2 of my girls off to work/school and made a doctor's appointment for DD13. She always suffers with her ears but now they are bleeding so it's time to see a doc.
It sounds like some of you are in the wars so sending you a gentle hug. I hope you manage to take it easy and that you get better soon.
I shall be heading off to Tesco after we've been to the surgery and hopefully we will get some BBQ bits and pieces before they sell out. I will stash it in the chest freezer for the weekend as this good weather seems to be continuing for a few days yet.:D
Just a couple more weeks left for school and then I will hopefully get a lie-in. I love having the girls home but it's going to be weird without hubby home too. I am trying to think of things we can do that don't cost too much. There are some good threads on here so I will make a cup of tea this afternoon and go through them. Our local council used to run different activities for the children in the holidays but there is no mention of anything on their website so I guess they have had their funding pulled.:(
Anyway, will stop yapping now so cheers m'dears x0
