Also the guy from the CEO Office who contacted me informed me that the statement that they have until the 10th of the month to credit the reward is incorrect.
He's probably not familiar with the T&Cs of the account, which CLEARLY state...
The £5 reward payment will be paid into your account before the 10th of each calendar month.

I lost a fiver x 2 because I forgot my home insurance was 10 monthly payments, not 12.

    Grrrr.

I though DD's just had to be "active" not necessarily called for monthly for the free fiver.

Well this one wasn't active in May or June. It will be in July again.

I might have to sort out a Tesco account!

The T&Cs state that the DDs must be 'paid' to receive the £5, otherwise they classify it as a 'main' account.

That's what I do set for the middle of the month, safest way to ensure it goes but I did think you'd be ok with something like a PayPal DD that's set up active but rarely collected.

No, you would not be ok with a DD that is rarely collected. Both DDs must pay monthly if you want to get the fiver (and to retain your account status). They must also be for two different organisations.

EDIT: See "Special Conditions" on page 18: http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/pdf/reward-current-account-guide.pdf

Both my DD's are for Tesco, separate accounts, and fiver has always been paid on time.

That's good to know. Is it 2 Tesco Savings accounts of the same title? Can you tell us which accounts please?

The T&Cs actually do say "two different DD mandates", no mention of different organisations. It was the Halifax chappy who originally advised about the changes that were introduced in May 2013 that they would use the OIN (Originator Identification Number) to determine whether the DDs are 'different'. What he didn't know is whether e.g. TESCO Credit Card would have a different OIN to Tesco Savings etc.

    From the special conditions.

    (f) Reward Current Accounts must have at least two different direct debit mandates set up on the account.
    (g) We may review your account from time to time and if you have not kept a minimum of two different direct debit mandates on your account at all times, we may change your account to the Current Account, or if this account is no longer available, to a standard current account with similar features to the Current Account. We’ll give you at least two months’ notice before doing so.

Well they are 2 different DD's to two different accounts at the same organisation. Do I need to set up something outside Tesco?

Both are Internet savings accounts at the time I believe they pay 2.6%
