Before going to the small claims your going to need to give them a lot more information than you gave here.

Still no mention of what (edit) or the age and price paid.

Independant garage fixed the clutch and caused issues. Can you prove it?

    edit...

A clutch is one of those things. How long had you owned the car before the clutch went?
am a little lost with this comment, a clutch is one of those thing, erm fixed ?? or so they said cost £1300, to me its either done correctly and working or it is not.

    Engineer or technician?
True about 'service administrators', they know nothing about cars but think they are fully qualified, experienced, chief mechanics.

Engineer, at the time quality engineer and lead electronics engineer in automotive parts manufacturing, most of the time I worked like a consultant to the technicians, it was "don't pull that, don't disconnect this, bypass that circuit (usually the damn safety light curtains), remove that relay, swap out that PCB and i'll run some tests" and a bit of "OH !!!!!! just give me that screwdriver!!" :rotfl:

yeh I agree, but when a fitter/mech cant diagnose a loud clatter/rattle on start up and lets you on your way then something is way wrong nowadays, so even they think they are in the KNOW when clearly they really don't have a clue. Trained fitters not mechs with little to no common sense, I clearly said to him what the issue was and now it is obvious that the symtom was exactly this.

my car would clatter/rattle/judder on start up every now and then, the trained so called mech said its a glowplug I just laughed, obviously the car was doing this because the timing gear was ready to go or was not doing what it should have, and then finally it did, all preventable, to say it was a glowplug makes me laugh, he also said airbox. Wonder what they are going to say when I do go in by, when I ask so what was the rattle etc before, lol bet they are trying to think up a good answer. Is obvious now but he tried to mug me off.
