Good morning guys
Another nice day today, lovely and warm and sunny even though its early.
I still have quite a bit of pain atm, just hope I am not one of the cases where the pain lasts for months or even years. Now that would be unlucky.
But at least the spots are healing a bit and arn;t quite as red and angry looking.
Hope everyone is well.

Beautiful afternoon here but I see rain is likely to come in tomorrow.
Hope you are feeling better CW & the pain is reducing.
Jeferey You are lucky to have so many strawberries. We have finished the ones I had planted in tubs.
Do you know what would be eating the leaves on blackcurrant bushes? Something has really gone to town on 2 of my bushes - I have never had the problem before. The fruit is OK but I am wondering if there will be any effect on the bushes for next year.0 -
Good afternoon. My laptop is playing up cos I spilt water on the keyboard:o:o:o I have it drying in rice but keys still not working properly after a few days and only have one working usb port on it so cannot use a keyboard and the cooling fan needed for it. Now on a new win8 laptop I have had for a while but hardly use because hate win8. Now it has installed the updates it isn't too bad though. I had request a password reset for mse because I had forgotten it as never actually typed it n cos was in the laptop memory.
I know I should write passwords in a book or something but knowing me would put it in a safe place and loose it.:cool:Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

That's good that you don't feel as ill today CW x
Here's the recipe for date and walnut loaf http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/23932/date-and-walnut-loaf-cake.aspx
The mix with the water, dates and marg looks a bit disgusting once it's cooled but it's really good. We seemed to have two packs of dates left from previous Xmas' so been using those up. Some looked a bit past eating (dry) but soaked in the water they are great in the loaf. Some nutmeg or mixed spice would prob be nice in it too, esp in colder months, just forgot to try it yesterday.
Well I'm a bit pink from the car boot which was a lot hotter than anticipated, and naughty my did not have any sun cream on. However, after some slow patches, made £47 so that's better than a kick up the jacksie. But headachy now though from the sun and a bottle of vino last night....did not need that last glass....
Great job at the car boot well done. How's the pole doing, have you gone back to it?Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

We have a dull and cloudy day today, it will rain later as well. Just hope my son gets time to mow the lawn early before the rain comes.
Oh, and trim the hedge as well. lol.

Do you know what would be eating the leaves on blackcurrant bushes? Something has really gone to town on 2 of my bushes - I have never had the problem before. The fruit is OK but I am wondering if there will be any effect on the bushes for next year.
I had a look online to see what else could cause it:
1) The blackcurrant sawfly lays its eggs on the underside of the leaves and the voracious larvae work their way along the shoots, stripping off leaf after leaf. In a serious attack, the bush can be denuded of leaves. Larvae of the currant borer drill their way along the centres of shoots, which wilt and die back.
2) Wooly (Vine) Scale Insect - the symptoms are small patches of white stuff on the stem. At the centre, underneath the white substance you will find a female scale insect and she has laid eggs and then created the white covering to protect the eggs. They can vary in appearance, shape and size depending on the conditions. A few of them don't do much damage but if left they will breed and can then become a problem. The white coating protects them from insecticides which are of little use because they just run off. If you can get the timing just correct, the time to spray with an insecticide is when the eggs hatch and the young scale insects begin moving about to a new part of the plant. In most cases, this window of opportunity is too small to be of use. The only way to get rid of them is either to squash the white blobs with your fingers (killing the eggs inside) or to use a toothbrush or similar to do the same job.
Hope you get rid of the problem - most likely to be the sawfly methinks. Apparently spray on nematodes work well but if you have to use chemicals then Westland Resolva Bug Killer apparently works too.

Good morning guys
Not slept well, this shingles is killing me. The spots are going down a bit but the pain in my neck/ear/scalp/face is not much better. Hope it goes soon as its driving me nuts.
Take care all
