Evening all. One of DAIL's came up to visit today - she's still poorly, crumbling spine, lukemia but her spirit was still there. Had a nice lunch out and then back to in-laws for a chat.
Back at home I've put first 8 tomatoes in the greenhouse aided by FD and we also sowed some pumpkins and butternut squash.
Back to work tomorrow after 10 days off, oh well.....
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D

Free veg seeds here for all you growers

I planted some rocket and salad seeds - just growing nicely but within a few days totally eaten and I haven't seen any site of slugs or snails. So frustrating.

Nice of your DAIL to visit despite her health problems. She must want to keep going as long as she can so must be a really strong minded lady.

Your veggies must be coming along nicely now, must save you a fortune.

Don't slugs and snails mostly come out at night hun. Ask Jeferey how he protects his veggies from pests.

Hi CW, red and everyone else. I'm growing some peas, carrots and salad in 2 raised beds in my back garden. I haven't used any slug pellets because of our dog but I've used some netting to keep the birds off - I love to see them but they can be little devils ;). Don't seem to have much trouble from pests in the raised beds....

On the allotment I use organic slug pellets sometimes but plenty of manual squishing helps a lot (oooeeeuggh) :rotfl:. On things like strawberries I use hay/straw which the slugs/snails don't like and netting to keep the birds off (sorry birds!).

Thanks for the link red - I've ordered some.
