Experian - really difficult to update their records

Myself and my partner tried to remove our electoral details from the old property - and for that I sent 3 letters, yes, 3 letters over the last few months to Experian. With the letter I sent copy from the council saying that our name was removed.

They said that they need to confirm with the council - why can't they make a quick call? I just did now and they confirmed that myself and partner have not been registered since Jan/13. The call was one minute!

I paid the subscription again in order to speed up things - as if this would help. And still I have got no response, and they blame the council!!

The council said that if they don't update the records they are in breach of the data protection act! I am trying to think a way to take this further. It's apalling service.

I have been trying to change this for 3 months now!!! 3 letters, in fact 4 (counting on the email once I subscribed again), and no sign of solution yet!!! Appaling!

Again just an automatic reply from Experian saying that they are still "investigating" it!

Not sure what you want them to do? The data of your time at the old property will remain regardless and shown as a previous address. When you have a new address on the ER, it is added by the Council and the CRA's take their feed (usually quarterly, sometimes monthly) and this will be used to update you records.

Nothing else will speed it up - but it will resin as a previous listed address.

Why? This is important information for credit referencing purposes.

I don't understand what you mean. Old electoral roll info remains on there (with previous addresses) as it shows how long you were on the ER at your previous addresses.

I don't know what the problem is tbh?

    My report shows:

    Address A - lived from August-2011 - TO PRESENT

    Address B - lived from December-12 - TO PRESENT

According to Experian I am registered in 2 addresses!!
I want them to remove (OK, remove is the wrong word), I want them to put that I no longer live at address A.
I sent a letter from my electoral roll saying that they were effectively removing me and my partner from address A in their reports. So in theory it should show:

    Address A - lived from August-2011 - "January 2013".

Bu they just don't get it!

I sent a scanned letter from the electoral roll. And they said that they cannot amend the records without confirming with the electoral roll. But it's months now since I am trying to sort this out!
It's easy for them to blame the electoral roll. But I called the electoral roll and they confirmed I am not registered there, and it was 1 minute call! Why can't experian call them? It's so annoying!

Raise a complaint with experian - if you don't get anywhere, you can escalate, to the FOS or FOB or FIB or whatever it is they call it.
    Oh, you wee bazza!
  • Well if you ave moved from property A to property B, you have to be certain that the new tenants have removed you from the form.

It might not be a CRA data error, you may actually be on the roll at both addresses.
  • Just spotted your other post. Ignore mine above in that case.
