My phones faults & Vodafone

To put things simply, I'm completely lost as to where I stand on things with my phone.
I've spent the past two months trying to get faults with the power settings and alarms sorted, with the same problems reappearing each time. I've not had any trouble with Vodafone before, but considering my phone is almost 6 months old now, I've been pushing to get all the problems sorted.
I started out at the end of May going into the store to try and get things sorted, or get a phone that was reliable in its place and the staff were rather insistent that I get my phone sent off for repair. I eventually caved and spent a week without my phone whilst they did whatever they were doing with it, and when I got it back things weren't bad until last week. At the beginning of the week, the exact same two problems that I had caused me to have my phone sent off were back.
So, with the problems back, I went to the store again (two days ago now) and I was told that the problems would be from software issues and that my software needed updating. I left my phone with them so they could do that and when I got it back they told me I wouldn't have any more problems with it. Only, that evening I was having the same problems again.

But now, I can't reach a store to complain and either have it sorted, replaced or refunded before the six month mark and after contacting Vodafone today they basically told me to either go to a store or contact the manufacturer.
Of course, I'm now completely lost as to what I should do or if it would be worth the cost for me to travel out to my nearest store to get it sorted before I pass the six month mark.

Things are going to change in the nearest future, but currently they can keep giving you runaround with endless repairs. The only way to break this vicious circle is to sue them on the grounds that the repairs take unreasonable time and cause your significant inconvenience: Consumer Rights

You do not state what type of phone, or your level of competence in operating one.

Further, badly behaved software in apps you downloaded and misuse are your responsibility, so grumbler's approach rarely works.
