Where did you buy it from and how long ago? Also did you have any kind of extended warranty?0
-
I've had it about four years and do not have any warranty or contact with the person who sold it.
I'm really just interested in retrieving any recent work off it. My sons friend has taken it away to have a look at it to see what he can do. Thank you for replies.0 -
Yes best to get the data you need off it.
I was only asking because depending on circumstances some have had success claiming for faulty nvidia graphics chips

One from 2010 here with your model

Probably more trouble than it's worth for most though I suppose.
If you google
how to repair nvidia graphic card
you'll find videos and threads of how sometimes a DIY repair can be successful.0 -
HI
Im now back off holiday!. I bought a usb caddy that was recommended and have plugged it into my hubbys laptop which allows me to see the stuff on the harddrive but when I click on a e.g desktop (as thats where all my folders are) it keeps coming up as access denied so I tried it in a different older laptop that has allowed me to see the files contained within and lets me access the security section which I follow to change administrator and then wont let me go any further. Any ideas please to retrieve the files.
My broken laptop was xp professional, hubbys laptop is xp home and the older laptop was running vista.
Many thanks in advance.
