I am in shock but the fifty pence almost dead tomato plants I bought from B and Q have thrived in the ground and now I believe I need to start staking them etc. But I can't really afford to go out and buy sticks!!! Any ideas? They are sort of in a raised bed (well raised off the lawn in any case).
Money money money.

Got any string? Just tie it off above them, and wind the string round the stem of the plant:

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Take a walk down any wood side and cut willow stakes, no damage or loss to anyone, but they will root in the pot given time:D

I hadn't thought of that, I will go stick collecting in the woods. I am determined to get some tomatoes from these plants. I have noticed they have started flowering in the heat which I think is meant to be a good thing.

If I am honest, I don't garden with enthusiasm I garden with ignorance!

My Bean poles are sycamore saplings cut in the spring - any tall straight branch will do. Also old lengths of piping which you could make into a frame and then ad strings to hold the tomatoes.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

Without offending anyone I hope, it ain't rocket science, although you can feel it is, ;);)

Any ignoramus can do it, (again, no offence, I don't for a minute think you mean it), just follow a very few simple guidelines and us as much common sense as you have at your disposal and all will be well:D

I had brought 4 Kg tomatoes and forgot them in the fridge. So the tomatoes were rotten after few days. Now tomatoes are Rs 60/kg when earlier they were Rs 25/kg.

Everybody in Mumbai is going crazy/mad because they buy 2 tomatoes but 4 kg tomatoes were rotten in my fridge.

    :A
    You are an idiot.
