What about eBaying something for 'spends' money - is that allowed?

When you are tempted to spend have a look at an old bank statment that contains lots of unneccassary spends. It is quite shocking and enough to make you lock up your credit card!

I finally started printing off old statments last night and a page containing 20 entries had half of those on junk! I looked through it thinking why was I spending 50 pounds in HMV when I was 2k OD?? Why was I spending 75 pounds in Next?? Could I afford to withdraw 200 pounds at a go and why was I withdrawing cash from machines that charged 1.50 a time!!??!!

That shocked me enough to say NO to more or less everything now

I had a nasty surprise last night. Having taken over the money side of things to rescue hubby I'd made a decision that the CC he needs for work I would clear each month (horrendous APR) even if his expenses weren't paid in time.

But on this MBNA card, because it wasn't fully cleared in the previous month, interest was charged. He phoned to complain that the balance had been cleared there should be no interest, and they told him it was because it hadn't been cleared in April. It's only £8 or so, but sometimes I think what's the point of saving two quid here or there when £8 can be lost just like that.

(I suppose if we hadn't saved four lots of £2 we wouldn't have the necessary £8 to throw away anyway.)

don't apologise. it doesn't concern me in the least.

we can form a gang  or whatever the collective term is for a bunch of olives :rotfl:

if you're going to clear the balance of one card you (or your hubby) regularly uses, it might be worth taking a look at getting a cash back credit card (see martin's articles).

Cash Back card eh? I'll take a look.

I've been looking at getting a different/parachute/new current account. I really like the A&L. But according to Quidco, if I have already been and looked at this account on A&L's web-site then cookies (?) will be attached to my computer and I won't EVER get the £50 if I sign up to it via Quidco. So, somehow I need to apply from somewhere cookie-free.... Trouble is I can't remember whether I browsed at work or at home..... Maybe there is a way of examining my cookies, but I'm not sure what or where they might be. I know I have to disable my pop-up blocker when I brainjuice, but I have no idea what that means either. No wonder my children think I'm too old to be trusted with technology.

But on the good news front. Another NS day. OH spent only £2; he wanted to spend more, but mistook a 10p piece for a £1 and only went to work with £2.10.

yes, only worthwhile though if you pay off the balance every month.

you can get more money than quidco offer by going to the alliance & leicester referal thread on here, i'll post you a link. there's a couple of people on there (dagobert and m leonard) that will tell you exactly what to do and help you out, one of them refered me.

and for future reference, you can easily clear cookies on your computer yourself.
on your browser page (the page you are looking at now), you'll see a menu - file, edit, view, favorites, tools and help. click on tools, then select internet options, half way down there you'll see a button to clear your cookies.

Collective name for a group of Olives? Surely it's a press.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

I've had an e-mail from the MS company, I didn't submit a receipt because when I asked for a ticket for my food I was told I didn't need it as he knew where we were sitting. I hope they accept that I'm not cheating and refund me. I once didn't get paid for an assignment because I'd asked for a coffee instead of waiting to be offered. (The service was so terrible the coffee wouldn't have happened if I'd not asked, and there was no way I could eat a donut without a drink...)

OH has taken the car today, so I've got to walk to work (about 25 mins walking) and can't nip home at lunchtime for beans on toast. Straight after work I have my other evening class (only 2 weeks to go yippee) soit's going to be a very long day.

Ha ha. So we're a press gang Olive :rotfl:

I don't do mystery shopping so don't know where you stand with that. There's quite a few on here that do though so somebody might advise.

Have you signed up to any survey sites?
