LJ's positive challenge 3rd of June

Another thing for me - My housework has really got the better of me - each room is so bad I am ashamed of it and I am at the point of pretending I am out if people call.
This in no way helps my frame of mind improve - I feel as though it is controlling me in some horrid way.
So, today I made a list of every room in the house and will try and do one room at a time. Starting with the smallest room - the downstairs loo - tomorrow.
I have tried the flylady challenge on the OS board but this is too enthusiastic for me, and enthusiasm is the one thing I have none of when it comes to housework!
So by the end of the month my house will be in order. Watch this space!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hi LJ - just popping back in to check up on you while my lunch cooks (yeah, yeah, it's nearly a quarter past four and it's a late lunch but I've barely stopped all afternoon!).
OK - my positives for today:- Get work clothes ready for tomorrow this evening thereby reducing panic in the morning
- Prepare lunch for tomorrow this evening thereby reducing panic in the morning
- "Treat" myself to BB this evening because it's utterly mindless and just what I need!

I'm struggling with motivation at the moment, feeling insignificant, inadequate and all that. I don't know what I can do today to motivate myself - I think OH deliberates the very question herself 'How can I motivate the lazy sod?'. Ok, here's one: I hope the breadmaker makes a decent loaf so I can have the first slice nice and fresh.

I think this works, you know.. having written that down I've just gone and done it - having spent five minutes staring in the fridge thinking "I've got nothing", I managed to rustle up a salad (well, rocket, homegrown herbs and a few olives I had left), leftover potato wedges from lunch mixed with mayonnaise to make a spicy potato salad, and am currently cooking the little bit that was left in the end of a bag of rice for some extra.
I've also decided on something a bit more major - I'm one of those annoying 'occasional' smokers, tend to buy a pack of 10 if I'm going out, have maybe 5 on a night out then finish the rest off over the week.. but never buy them if I'm just going to be at home. Well, no more, it may be just an odd £3 but it's still money, and it's still not good for me... and with the smoking ban coming in there'll be no more of that sitting in the pub feeling I 'need' one because other people are smoking. So I've just had my last one - not saying I'll never have another odd one if someone offers but I'm not buying them again.
Good luck everyone

Just a thought...
When you're lacking in motivation or feeling down, it's sometimes very easy to forget about anything that doesn't revolve around yourself. Danny Wallace set up a group called "Join Me" a few years ago - all you have to do is do a random good deed for someone else on a Friday. (The website's here: http://www.join-me.co.uk/index.html.)
So, suggestion. As well as one positive thing for yourself, do a random nice thing for a stranger every day too. As I'm not leaving the house today, my random nice thing is:- Do not shout "Bimbo!" at random BB housemates (especially Ziggy) this evening, no matter how easy this will be to do.

sounds like you've got your work cut out for you!!!
my random nice thing has to be setting up this challenge, if it helps one person feel more positive or realise that they did do something positive on a bad day then it's worth it!
I do like the idea of the nice thing bit too, it's very good for your karma!0 -

I know. Is it possible to develop Big Brother-related Tourettes for an hour a night. And then it disappears? What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160
