Greetings MFW's I have been a long time lurker, and thought I'd take the Bull by the horns and start my own MFW diary. So here goes:- Its just me and my DH, 2 mad dogs, 1 cat and a very noisy bird. We took our £55,000 mortgage out in 1999 over 25 years. Currently have 11 years left, and down to £27,593.17. After much messing around with the mortgage calculator have worked out that we could be mortgage free in 4 years if we could double our monthly amount. Not sure if this is possible as money is tight, but I aim to try. Hopefully with your help and encouragement its possible.

Woohoo, sounds like a challenge to me! Happy new diary, looking forward to reading your journey.
Thanks Katzen
Shopped at A*di's again today. I've been doing this for a month now and I'm certainly noticing a difference in how much we're spending. My budget is £50 a week, but didn't do so well today as spent £64.93
, but that did include things like sun screen, disposable bbq's, bug stuff, and burgars and sausages which we wouldn't normally buy
. We're off for a MSE mini holiday Fri - Sun in our caravan in the New Forest :j. It's her first adventure out since we had her, as DH had to rebuild the whole front end. Can't complain really though as it was given to us from my parents.
We've managed to pay an extra £100 off the mortgage the passed two months, but inorder to get it down to 4 years we need to find an extra £253 a month . Still I suppose every little helps.

Its too Hot, give me a spring or autumn day anytime
. No OP's today, but did pay £73 into the bank which was from the car boot I did on Sunday and our change pot. This money is to pay towards our week in cornwall in Oct
. I've been asked to work an extra shift a week Tuesday, so that is all extra in the pot.
Trying to get the house in order today but failing miserably, have I said its too hot
. Did strip the bed in the spare room and put a clean duvet cover and pillowcases on. Just need to put this in the caravan now for the weekend. Will sort food for the weekend on friday morning. Camping makes me feel so famous five, all we need now is lashings and lashings of ginger beer . Off to get my hair cut in a bit, then back to the dreaded chores. Hope everyones trying to stay cool . Another scorcher here in Hampshire. This is the first chance I've had to sit down allday and check in, will have a read through some other MFW Diaries in a bit. Sold a couple of my signs on the bay of e earlier, which I'm now desperately trying to get painted so I can post them off on Friday morning, an extra £28.49 for the MFW pot :j. Got all the bedrooms vacumed and dusted today, will do battle with the bathroom tomorrow and still need to vacuum and dust the lounge and dining room. May need to nip to A*di's for a couple of bits tomorrow, or might just get what I need in T*sco. Think I will try to persevere with some surveys next week to try and earn some extra pennies. Will also see what I can find to sell on the Bay of E.

I was wondering would I be better OP the mortgage each month, or waiting until I've got £500, which will reduce the term?MFW 142- Oct 1999 £55,0000, Jul 2013 £27,593.17 Oct 2013 £26,531, Dec 2014 £22,600, Dec 2015 £20,190, Jan 2016 £19,944.19 Mar 2017 £16,944.76 Decluttered 207/2018

Got back yesterday from a lovely weekend away in the New forest. Couldn't have got better weather. We had a great shady pitch, which was perfect for us and the dogs. All [STRIKE]we[/STRIKE] DH spent while there, was on 3 ice creams each
.
Only have £26.83 to stay in budget for the grocery challenge this month, so looking very unlikely we'll do it.:(
Just reading Beckyy's MFW diary I'm inspired to check out Quidco and see how much I can save on my car insurance as its up for renewel.

Morning folks , I was a very good yesterday and paid the extra £9.91 I had in my account into the mortgage overpayment pot. Looking very doubtfull I will have the £127 I wanted to OP the mortgage for August, but every little helps. I don't get money over the school hols as only work a few holiday club shifts, so won't be back to normal wages until the 2nd week of September
. Also need to find my half of the holiday money which is due beginning of August  .
Had a small spend of £4.50 in Mr T this morning, and DH spent £1.40 in Co*p last night, on bits I couldn't get at A*DI yesterday. Oh dear grocery budget is not looking good.
Well better get some jobs done.

Morning,
Payday today :j as I get paid weekly, after sorting out my little wages into their allocated pots I put an extra £24.40 into the OP pot. Need to speak to DH about how much he's contributing this month. Trying to convince DH to swap his easy saver account with lloyds to the nationwide isa as the interest rate is much better, only have just under 3 grand in savings which is for a rainy day, if we had anymore I'd OP the mortgage with it. Especially after calculating that we're paying £1.58 in interest a day
.
Just noticed that I've achieved my second star and have gone from MSE convert to Stalwart
, I'm easily pleased :rotfl:.
