No phonebox

Hi,

The property i just bought as no phonebox (white box the phoneline plugs into). Does anyone know if sky will install this as part of the installation?

Im looking to purchase online via quidco but it seems there small print and t&c mentions nothing about a phone box.

Ive been quoted by BT to fit one for over £100+ so trying to find a cheaper option.

If there is no NTE5 and no phone line, you will have to have this installed from BT Openreach first before you can take a service with any provider.

Will sky not organise to fit it then as part of the service? Thought theyd bend over backwards to get a new customer in contract.

Not according to their site. Particularly:
To receive Sky Talk, you must have an active BT compatible phone line.

    and
If you don't have a working BT compatible phone line and you are taking Sky Line Rental, we can arrange for a new phone line to be installed or an existing phone line to be activated (“New Phone Line”). We will confirm the charge (if any) for your New Phone Line at the time of booking.

Are you talking about Sky TV or phone/broadband ?, you don't need a phone line for Sky TV but you may have to pay more to get it installed if they cannot plug the Sky box into a working phone line, but I'm sure they will ask you this when you order, if you are talking about phone service, whoever you ask to provide the service will get Openreach to install the line if you tell them you currently have no phone line in the property and need one installing, if you want everything from Sky, TV,phone and broadband you will probably have to order phone and broadband together and TV separate, but if you just order TV they are not going to install a phone line unless you ask

I'm pretty sure the OP is just talking about the phone as he mentions BT charging £100 to install a phone line.

So while any provider will probably arrange to have it done, I think the OP was trying to find out if he could get it free/very cheap.

Im probalby looking and getting all 3 products off sky but wondering if they install a phoneline for me and/or people have experience with this.

I've found this page which seems to state they will install a phone socket. What do you think? http://help.sky.com/talk/switching-to-sky-talk/what-to-do-once-youve-ordered-sky-talk

Not likely to get it for free. It costs the supplied approx £133 (if i remember right) to have a line installed, so if the supplier provides it for free and absorbs the charge they would need to lock them into a contract for 2 years or so to get enough money back to clear it after other overheads.

Also, if you need to phone them don't tell them you want a phone box installed. It's a phone socket you're after.

I needed a new phone line installing when I got sky (tv+phone+broadband).
Sky organised this and it was free. I did via Topcashback and didn't have any problems.

Hi was it a phone socket you needed also or just a phone line (I think i need both!) - not sure what the difference is but seems to be a lot of terminology flying about!

The socket will be installed with the line if there isn't one already in place. If you are getting BB and phone most big providers (BT TalkTalk Sky) will get the phone line installed without charging.
