can someone help me I was coming back from Maidstone late last night and I can not remember if I was going over the 40 speed limit on the road opposite asda, the camera that is on Maidstone road is a yellow one can you tell me if this flashes if you are over the speed limit? also how much can you be over the limit and nothing happens to you? as I know your speed o meter is never correct also I think the speed camera have some leeway, also how long does it usually take for a nip to come through the post? and how likely is it for the first offence to be offered a speed awareness course?

With regards to the course, I have no idea on Kent's policies, however I've been on three in the same amount of counties, as Herts, Essex and Met have the approach you've mentioned.
They usually take a week or two to come through, but again this may mary from force to force. Remember, too, that many cameras don't have any film in them
Typically, the accepted 'beyond reasonable doubt' is 10%, plus 4mph, however this is up to a judge, who has more powers than a fixed penalty, should it go that far.

Lol, they obviously don't work then.0 -
The NIP has to be posted to arrive by normal post within 14 days.
Many do not,
They do post them late, they do try it on, if it does arrive late and the postmark is +14 days, save the envelope (VERY IMPORTANT- SAVE THE ENVELOPE!) + NIP and come back on line.Be happy...;)0 -

I think it was more of a case of being reasonably young and having fast cars (I had a Ford S-Max 2.5 for the first two, then on the third I was driving OH's 535d). On all 3, I was only just over the abovementioned threshold.
I've calmed down a little now I've hit 30, but I still have a fast car (3.0, 275ps twin turbo diesel estate). Either that or I haven't been caught again💙💛 💔0 -
Cleveland police website states a 'threshold' of 10%+2 so in a 30mph zone that would be 35.
However the ticket office sends out tickets for anything over 30.
I know people who have received tickets for 31 and 32 and just paid up.
However I was told by the police themselves that if it is under 35 ( in this case) then just return it to the ticket office with reference to the police website.
The tickets must be being automatically issued for anything over 30 and a large number of people on 31/32/33/34 just pay up, the ticket office don't seem to query the discrepancy.0 -

Accepted by whom?
The guidance issued to the police states that it's 10% + 2mph.0 -

I'm possibly going off old guidance there.
Thank you for bringing it up, and I have duly noted it in my brain.💙💛 💔0 -
Kent Police rotate the cameras. So some speed camera boxes may not have an actual camera unit in them but will still flash.
Unfortunately I know of quite a few people caught out by that camera and it seems to permanently have a camera in it.The man without a signature.0 -

Apart from the 10% + 2.
The rest of your post is utter nonsense.0 -
I would advise to drive within the speed limit. It stops you getting speeding tickets or killing some small child who might be out late playing.
Some people are so cavalier when it comes to speeding, like the have a given right to drive up and down the UK highways at any speed they feel fit. I would have a zero tolerance and 10 days in gaol if I were in chargeOne man's folly is another man's wife. Helen Roland (1876 - 1950)0
