Another way to tell the site is a fake is they spell stationery incorrectly.

Whilst I am very grateful for the replies, I am not so enamoured by some of the more scathing ones. This is the first time I have used a forum, it will be the last, it is so easy to be unkind on the internet and again, I should have known better.

No-one has been 'scathing', they have just pointed out the facts - which obviously you don't like.

I note that you joined the forum in August 2012, although this has been your first question. Have you not looked around during this time and seen the nature of the place?

You may find this harsh but it seems you have not learned the lesson from your "DVLA" mistake; you have posted in the area of the forum designed for Credit Card questions so it seems that you may still not be looking closely enough before jumping in with both feet.

Please take this as constructive criticism and stay around for awhile. :heart2:

The onluy expection I know of is there's a case to be made for eating the Post Office checking fee when renewing a passport, particularly if you want to travel in the next month because the rules on photo size and placement are tiresome and easy to screw up. If you have time, however, there's no problem going through the loop a couple of times for free!

I disagree. If you need a new passport the best way to make sure it goes through 1st time is to fill in the form on line which if you don't fully complete will be rejected as you try to submit. This form nicely typed up is then sent to you and you return with duly signed photos. If you are unsure of anything ring the help line. I would say go to Jessops for pictures as they know the rules, but they have closed!! Xmas week is a great time for renewing passports. It took just a few days before my new passports were delivered at home. Strangely though I had two one day and one the next!

Also with Drivers licence you can use your passport photo if you have renewed it recently. When DD applied for her provisional she just had to tick a box on line, add her passport number and then iti was added automatically. Saved a fiver! She had renewed her passport when she turned 16 and applied for her licence a year later so the time limit is at least 12 months.

    Oh dear !:o

There is similar issues with US Visas. You should make sure you go direct Esta site else you will be charged an admin fee for applying for the Visa.
