    Hi hun

£300 a month is high for food - ours is about £100/£150 for 4 of us and a cat.

Look on the old style board for some ideas on how to lower this.

Agree with this, there are lots of people feeding whole familis on £25 per week.

if you are really pushed, you could cut it below £20.

    How are you doing.

You really need to check with https://www.entitledto.com to find out if you can get working tax credit or child tax credit.

With respect to work, either you need more hours to get more income out of the cab, or you might want to think about another job.

You did not indicate how much your house is worth, how much the mortgage is and whether yuo have any equity.

If you cant' get the outgoings down and the income up, you might think about selling up, paying off the debts and renting for a while. If you mortgage rate is already high, this could be a good option. Then when you have got a better credit rating, you can think again.

In the mean-time, you really do need to get all your paperwork together and go to see CCCS, CAB or payplan urgently.

    Hi there!

If you post a full SOA (see Southernscoussers sticky thread) then we should be of more help.

A few thoughts come to mind though if you want to keep your house
    -get a lodger
    -cancel any Sky/gym membership/magazine subscriptions
-reduce your food shopping (look at Old Style board)
-give up smoking (if you do)
-phone up the council and ask if you could pay off the arrears by X amount each month on top of your normal payment or in the two months you dont pay council tax.
-if possible get rid of your car
    - take packed lunches to work

They are quite a lot of good dfw tips around but obviously we don't know whats relevant to you unless you post your incomings and outgoings.

Good luck sorting out your debts and I hope we can help!

:A THANKS FOR THE ADVICE SORRY I HAVENT GOT BACK TO YOU BUT I DONT GET TO GET ON THE COMP MUCH. I DONT SUBSCRIBE TO SKY ONLY PAY THE TV LICENCE, THE CAR I NEED FOR WORK AS I AM A TAXI DRIVER ,I ONLY EAT WHEN I HAVE TO,I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE COUNCIL TAX AND SORTED A PAYMENT PLAN OUT. YHANKS SUE:cool:

pop across to the old style boards and it really is eye opening. I think the biggest single money saving item on my weekly shop was cutting out all the various different cleaning products for my house and just buying a bottle of stardrops (65p)....which just lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts! And it does all the jobs better than all those different expensive brands I used to buy anyway.

Apart from that there is loads of useful advice over there. I must admit I haven't got my weekly shop down to £25 yet (there are four adults here) but I think I could if I really pushed hard. However, we do allow ourselves one or two luxury items in the shopping:o We are spending an average of £160 per month now on our shopping

Edited: I just looked at my first post and my SOA from April this year. At the time I was spending £380pm  on grocery shopping. As we now spend £160 and have luxuries in that I can't even begin to think what the extra £220pm was even being spent on. I do remember when I posted the SOA thinking that I was already at the minimum my grocery shop could be. Just goes to show what can be achieved with a little support and pointing in the right direction from other fantastic MSErs

Is it a company that is offering to buy it from you and rent it back? If it is then please post the company details in order that other MSErs with experience of the company can give you advice and guidance. There's bound to be someone around who's been through the same sort of thing.

If it's a family member or friend it is probably a better deal, but however you are achieving this make sure you aren't being done over so to speak.

:rotfl: I don't know where to get stardust....but definitely would love some of it's magic.

However, stardrops is a cleaning fluid and you can use it for just about everything from handwashing to washing up to cleaning floors, showers, ovens, hobs, and loads more. I buy it at my local Savers store, but don't know if you have one of those near you. I think supermarkets sell it....definitely seen other MSErs mention they've seen it in Sainsburys but I never have.
