Virgin 20 to 30Mb upgrade anyone managed to do it?

Looking to reduce my costs.
I’m currently paying £28.65 for a basic 20Mb connection which is more than “new” users are paying for a 60Mb service.
Would like to “upgrade” to the 30Mb service as the advertised “new” user cost is a lot cheaper. The only offer under “my offers” is for the 60 Mb which the offer states would be £5 increase.
Vaguely remember phoning customer services some time ago only to be told that as an existing customer I could not upgrade to 30Mb only to 60Mb.
Has any existing customers managed to upgrade from 20 to 30Mb and did you get the advertised price?

150 from your Virgin phone if you have one or the 0845 number on their website, select thinking of leaving, ask why you are paying more than new customers and what can they do about it. "Thinking of leaving" takes you to retentions who have access to better deals.0

I assume this includes something else besides broadband? I'm on the 20Mb package for £23.65 a month but after doing as kwikbreaks suggested I got a £7 a month discount so I'm paying £16.65 for 24 months.
The upgrade wasn't available in my area when I got my current deal (I was only on 10Mb at the time) and 20Mb is quite sufficient for my needs. Still when my current deal ends I'll be phoning up to leave. Whether or not they'll offer me the 30Mb remains to be seen.
I'm not sure what the restrictions are on leaving and re-joining but you could always suggest to CS that you're going to do it if the don't want to offer it.0 -
If you threaten to lave you can get any package0

Nope just broadband. 20Mb is fast enough was just thinking of the 30Mb as its listed as being cheaper.VoucherMan wrote: »I assume this includes something else besides broadband? Will try phoning them but as said last time I was told upgrade to 30Mb for existing users was not an option

With retentions everything is an option. I pay £26.75 for 60Mbps (no phone) which is less than your 20Mbps.0

In some cases they will make a no charge upgrade offer to 60 megabits from 20. Not even by the retention team, just in email out of the blue.0
