  • If nothing else I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem, will try vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Working on OH to get a new loo then we can clean underneath and laminate right under it.
    Off to mop toilet floor...again!!

Noticed you're in the North but doesn't say where, in Durham there is an Archibalds, I paid £15 for a new pan last year. B&Q do some reasonably priced ones to. You could possibly take the old one out and do it, but do be careful my DP slipped with a hammer and put it straight through mine

Laminate - might be worth while sealing it with something, or any misses could still get in, soak making smelly and expand. This was the reason we went for vinyl flooring.

As for 18, bah my partners older than that and still has occasional misses :rotfl:

What a lovely conversation we're having!
One day I might be more organised...........

  • :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Yes I have also experienced the wet thighs (courtesy of DH) and wet feet (courtesy of DS) and the downstairs cloakroom occasionally smells whiffy! But we still love them all the same. My DH has just said he will pay particular attention to drying the seat after use at nighttime as I have just drawn it to his attention again.( seat has tendency to fall down so doesn't bother at night!!!) DON'T USE LAMINATE, IT WILL SWELL, go for vinyl or ceramic tiles, or just painted floorboards. Lovely conversation, but reassuring to know there are lots of us out there!

Off to draw fly below water line.

I always have a packet of Parazone wipes on top of the toilet to encourage everyone to wipe up any misses!!! Bicarb of soda is usually a cure all for all smells!
  • Thankyou this thread has made me smile! Yes have had the wet thigh syndrome, 'shake' marks on the wall and a general lingering wee wee smell . It wasn't until we changed the flooring to lino after scrubbing the floorboards around the toilet with bleach(did have carpet -yuk) that the smell disappeared.

My DD was told by the vet that the way to neutralise doggy wee smells was to use Persil disolved in hot water so this may help for human wee smells too. Don't know why it had to be Persil.

When my boys were small I used a rubber mat around the loo and this worked OK for us and was easy to clean.
