I think that I should charge them the same rate as they charge people for parking more than 2 hours in their store car park - ie £70 (per day ?) - or even £150 for parking it in a "disabled persons bay"/garden (I AM disabled)
    That will hurry them up.....

Tesco dont charge you for parking in their car parks after a set period of time though nor for parking in a disabled bay.

If it's one of those smaller trolleys then they make great student barbeques.

Chain it to the goods in gate, with a rude note attached to it.
Hopefully they will get the message about there total incompetence.

Yes they did - I will have to cut off the chain and recover that
Our nearest Tesco is 2 miles away !!
Hammer to the plastic bit surely? And when Tesco collect it -you declare "it was like that when dumped there".

We have a large Sainsbury near us and I have more than once seen a trolley (with pound) in the street and dragged it back on my next visit (keeping the pound).

I can understand that some people might have so much shopping that they feel the need to wheel it home. But these were within 5 mins walk so why they couldn't then take it back and reclaim their quid amazes me. There was a family (of the sort that Katie Hopkins would avoid) who did it regularly despite the perfectly fit teenager who could have done the return trip. I think I made a fiver out of them over a couple of years...
I need to think of something new here...

(Despite receiving a phone call from Tescos on Tuesday - apologising and promising to collect soon)

    Guess what ?
Despite a phone call to customer services (using an 0845 number) on Friday morning and 2 emails sent since - and a return call back from them on Sunday afternoon - the trolley STILL hasn't been collected !!
I see that "some" local councils have a collection service - no doubt charging tescos a huge sum - unfortunately - ours doesn't !!
Surely your council would act if you reported it as "fly-tipping"? Which it is after all.

I seem to recall many years ago the supermarkets themselves offered a reward for reporting abandoned trollies - £5 or £10, something like that.
