On Thursday evening - Tesco sent a local kid round to deliver us a free shopping trolley - dumped in our garden !!
We phoned Tesco at 7pm - an 0845 number to report this and to ask them to collect it - nobody in - answer phone message "PLEASE TRY AGAIN TOMORROW" - No option to leave reply
So - we phoned again yesterday morning - person told us "Thank you - will collect later today" - nobody came !!
I emailed them and was told "Will collect within 2 days"
So - if they do not collect the trolley by Sunday - it becomes our property - what can we do with a Tesco trolley ?
1. Modern art - via bending / welding
2. Sell to scrap yard
3. Use as Garden Feature
Any other suggestions ?

Why don't Tesco provide an App to allow reporting of trolleys ?
The "trolleywise" app has problems - it fails to install properly on my phone (and many others - if you see user reports)

Suprised it managed to get to your house, it's a nightmare getting the trolly around the store. Did they leave the pound in the trolly?

It's a regular event near to me. I think people use the trolleys to carry multi packs of beer home for parties if they have no other means of transporting it.

The trolley is clearly Tesco's property and belongs to them. Although you didn't steal it, someone did and because it's on your land, that doesn't change the ownership properties.

You could suggest that if they don't collect it within a given date, you will start charging them a storage charge but even that would need to be a reasonable sum.

Tescos usually send the home-delivery van round to collect them when it is passing.

I think that I should charge them the same rate as they charge people for parking more than 2 hours in their store car park - ie £70 (per day ?) - or even £150 for parking it in a "disabled persons bay"/garden (I AM disabled)
    That will hurry them up.....

I used to live in a tower block where some of the residents would visit Lidl, pay their Pound for a trolley, fill it up with food and push it back to the flats. They'd take the food out and leave the trolley outside. A ne'er'-do-well would then come along, take it up to the top floor and chuck it off the balcony. It made a terrific racket when it hit the ground and ceased to be useful for anything really.

    So there's your solution.

When I was a kid we used to stand up in them and 'surf' them down the hill at the back of my house. Grab yourself a camera phone, a Youtube account and go 'surfing' in some obscure places, you'll become an internet sensation in no time.

I remember seeing an intoxicated lady being pushed home from the pub in one in Brixton a few years ago.

I have emailed Tesco - informing them that since they have failed to collect it - within their quoted 2 days - They will be billed /fined at the same rate as a non-disabled person - parking their car in a disabled parking spot and if it is not collected today - it will be returned to where it was found - I await their response !!

If it's one of those smaller trolleys then they make great student barbeques.

The local council around here will pick up any trolleys free of charge and charge the shop they belong to £100 for collection and something like £25 a day storage charge.
