Firstly I have NO IDEA where to put this so moderators please feel free to move it if necessary
I am going through an UGLY divorce. I am currently paying 100% of a joint mortgage for a house that my soon to be ex-wife, her boyfriend and my daughter are living.
As a result I pay less CSA. My ex is now insisting in paying half the mortgage, my lawyers and I can see no reason for this other than getting more CSA money (despite paying for half the mortgage)
Is there a benefit reason for this that I cant see? or something more suspicious?

Question, why have you moved out? it's your house. move back and make it awkward for her.
You're paying a mortgage on a house you dont live in?!0 -
I guess when it comes to splitting assets she will be more likely to be given a greater percentage of the equity if she can say she has paid half of the mortgage.
The other thing, if she is having a percentage paid through housing benefit she might be paying less out than you would have to give in CSA.. You might have to give her an extra £50 yet she only has to pay out an extra £20 ... for example.
Or she might just want to mess you about.. who knows what goes on in the mind of a woman?!
I can't see why it would make any difference to the total you are paying though..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Apologies if i am missing something, but if you only pay 50% of the mortgage you will have additional money that you have been paying out to pay child maintenance? So you may be financially better off short term if your CSA payment is less then 50% of the mortgage?
Long term, if your married then the house will be part of divorce assets and is usually split 50/50.0 -

HB is only paid to people who rent."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

No mention of HB in your link"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Well you apply for it on the forms called 'housing benefit' along with council tax .. and on the letters you are sent they are from the housing benefit office.. and it is that dept you ring to discuss it so what you want to call it in your nit picking does not change the fact she is likely to be getting money paid towards the mortgage.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

It's highly unlikely she is getting ANY money paid towards her mortgage. Mortgage help is only available to people on JSA or Income support (Or ESA or Pension credit) If she is working at all she will be getting no financial help. It's an all or nothing benefit unlike HB.
I don't think you will have to pay more CSA by only paying half the mortgage. There is a child support board on here (sub board of the benefits board) and it may be worth posting there. Do you know what CSA rules you are under - that may well make a difference.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
