Maybe a Scottish thing, as I bought in Perth not Ddee. :rotfl:

Have you visited the new Asda Kingsway West yet? I went yesterday and using coupons was a breeze. On the SS tills it's just scan and post in the slot, no trouting necessary! On the other hand it's quite small and didn't stock a few things I wanted so I'd probably only use it for top ups.

I haven't been yet Mrs B but I might have a look tomorrow. I was told it wasn't as big as the Milton of C one but bigger than the Kirkton one.

Now do I shop tomorrow, or should I wait until Thursday, to make sure they compare. :)

Sorry I'm doubting it. It's a "cheapest item free" promotion which, apparently, is the distinction now about when bogofs do/don't compare. If all items in the bogof are the same individual price at the competitor, it should compare. But if there are various prices and it's the 'cheapest one free' it's now, so I understand, treated as a promotion difficult for msm to compare and excluded from the PG.

That seems to be how it is operating now. I originally thought no bogofs compared due to several coming back N/A. Then I thought, as long as you mix and matched it was okay, but then was told - I think by Qoc - apologies if someone else - that the APG did compare bogofs as they'd been compared on Qoc's APGs - then it seemed haphazard.

I now gather the position is that the bogofs where all the items at the competitor in the competitor's offer are the same individual price are still compared, as that's easy for msm to do.

However, where it's 'cheapest item free', it isn't, as msm thinks you've bought three of the cheapest price (and previously comparing to that at the competitor) rather than one cheap and two more expensive. This was the 'solution' to stop the glitching on the 3 for 2s last year - the 'cheapest item free' promotions now taken as 'difficult for MSM to compare' and therefore, as such, they are excluded from the PG and compare all to N/A.

That's what I've gleaned. It's not obvious from the t&cs, where (previously) difficult to compare promotions were defined to be things such as 'buy cream and get strawberries free' offers at the rival. That reference has been deleted from the t&cs for some time and apparently these 'cheapest item free' promos are also treated as difficult to compare to. Unless anyone knows different, that's now the position.

  • :D liking being called sensitive - been called a shed-load of stuff over time but not usually so gentle and complimentary - thank you! Very glad you are so comfy on the thread - t'is important that folk feel that way.

Wasn't planning on disappearing, will continue to post whatever I think will be helpful and fits the ethos and flow of the thread, but yes, think a greater number and of diversity of posters would be healthy and helpful to everyone.
That is good news RN as I am yet another fan of your posts..:)

Talk about diversity, I'm about as diverse as they come!:p

By day a charming Glaswegian, happy to be nice and helpful, take part in idle banter and do test shops to ensure that all potential glitches are killed stone dead..;)

By night a grumpy old Scottish git who enjoys the occasional drinkie and can't help being a bit controversial at times.:whistle:

I just had a look at my stats and it seems that somehow nearly 40 posts of mine have been deleted (by me and the mods) and I have also had two warnings from the mods for my bad behaviour.

Maybe it is 'cos I is a Gemini??
