Entitledto calculator wrong or I'm just easily confused

It seems so wrong telling random strangers my financial situation but I'm thinking you can't help much unless I do huh?! Okay...

I'm a 23yr old single Mum and I've got one child born 09/05. Last year I earned £2,112 through working and was on IS for 6m (totalling £1493). Other income for the previous tax year was Working Tax Credits of god only remembers what and I don't think it counts anyway does it? Other income was child tax credit and benefit plus my rent and council tax were paid direct but again, I think these aren't included in calculations???

From the end of June this year I'll be working full-time earning £14,500 per year gross. My ex is supposed to pay £59pw maintanance. Who knows if he'll pay it or not? But it counts as income regardless I know.

Rent is £625pm (pricey county) and council tax is around £800 after single person discount.

Childcare will be £166.25 per week for childminder.

Sooooo why does the entitledto calculator say I am entitled to NO working tax credit or childcare costs assistant? Yet it says I am entitled to full council tax relief and housing benefit?! I was under the impression you lost the latter first as your income rises?

Have I missed something here? About to try it in retrospect, ie put future details as past and see what that chucks out. I find it hard to believe my gross income for this year will wind up at £32,000 regardless of which department pays what.

Honestly, how am I supposed to plan my finances returning to work with these over complex rules and useless tools?! And NO to anyone who suggests the Job Centre for very long and very angry reasons.

Try the cab they should be able to help you. I just did a calulation for my sister who is a single mother earning 15,000 but no child support maimtainance and she was entitled to £70 p/w working tax and £35 CTC .

I have just been doing benefit training with the cab and it is very complex. I can't imagine you would get housing benefit but you would get 25% discount off your c/tax

See that's what I thought; I would get WTC but not HB or minimal HB.

I see advice on these boards often better than I know I would get through asking the "professionals". I figure off I'm better asking here and hoping someone in similar circumstances has had personal experience!

I have found my local CAB as bad as my local JC. The guy I saw at the CAB didn't even know you can claim IS on a sicknote.

    This is ridiculous.

If you put my circumstances into entitledto imagining I earned £14,500 last year and will again this, all details as above, my gross income is apparantly £50,000 a year. Yeah right!!!

    Hiya

Do you mean £14500 gross? Tax Credits use gross figures not net.

Yes I do mean gross as opposed to net.

I don't understand why you have posted just to point out an obvious typo though.

Well I genuinely do apologise if you were honestly trying to be helpful, I didn't take it that way. I took it you were simply trying to point out a mistake in my question rather than offer assistance but again, if this is not the case, I apologise.
