I was surprised in Tesco when they had the 3for2 baking offer on that the items I bought went through as I had hoped, 3 and 6 were free. They were only a couple of pence difference in price which is why I didn't bother with separate transactions but every little helps.0

Actually, it was nothing like that at all. Then I quoted it to you (you being wrong)!!!
Just to remind you
All you did ther was pick one of a long list of possible definitions and point out that it did not match the definition that I was using.
As you clearly have no idea how to use dictionary definitions properly there seemed little point in trying to engage you in further discussion.
It's really cute, though, the way you cling to you little, supposed, 'victory' and manage to drag it up even in some completely unrelated discussion. :rotfl:There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

I think you'll find all dictionaries will have the same definition. As you clearly have no idea how to use dictionary definitions properly there seemed little point in trying to engage you in further discussion.
Yeah ok !?!?It's really cute, though, the way you cling to you little, supposed, 'victory' and manage to drag it up even in some completely unrelated discussion. :rotfl:
You're usual opinionated/stronger worded than need be, almost dramatic comeback!!0 -
The supermarket haven't done anything wrong they have given the offer as advertised. Its the buyer that should notice these things and shop accordingly (ie put through as two separate transactions).
However as the OP states, working it out is not something everyone is able to do and its a shame supermarkets can take advantage of people like this.
OP I appreciate you didn't realise what had happen till you got home and checked the receipt? I would take all the items back to store and get a refund and then re-purchase (the same items as I don't think shops are allowed to re-sell vitamins) using two transactions. If the store refuse to do this I would write a letter of complaint.0 -

Lesson is only purchase the expensive stuff and forget bundling it with other cheaper products from same line.
Not much of an incentive to buy lots of different products as the same time!
Name and shame them.
Tesco and Sainsburys would have given the discount on the 3rd, 6th, 9th etc most expensive items so you do not need to mess around with 2 or more transactions.0 -

I have brought offers like this in Tescos and I always do two transactions just in case, I think it is a safe bet as how is the buyer suppose to know what the shop will do?0 -
Many years ago when I was working in a discount store we did a "3 for 2" deal on Xmas cards and the owner of the shop served a business man with nine packs of cards. The till automatically took off the three cheapest packs. The chap then took out a laminated card saying he was from TRADING STANDARDS and the shop was BREAKING THE LAW running the deal in that way. Him and the boss then disappeared into the office and 20 minutes later we had a staff meeting telling us to sort purchases into price groups and put the third item thru at 0.00. If in doubt, we were to discount the most expensive item, until the tills were fixed (pricing changers all happened overnight).0

This just demonstrates all the more clearly that you have no idea what you're talking about.
1) No, all dictionaries do not have the same definition. Smaller ones tend to be a lot less comprehensive.
2) That really isn't the point, anyway. What you don't seem to understand is that you cannot simply pick one small section of a definition and try to use that to make a claim that someone else, using another part of the set of definitions, is wrong.
I would have thought that was obvious to anyone, but apparently you need it explained - as witness, your comment above. You're usual opinionated/stronger worded than need be, almost dramatic comeback!!
LOL, you really are a piece of work.
You drag up an old and irrelevant section of a post simply in order to have a go at someone and then start whining when that person is, not unreasonably, robust in their pointing out the schoolboy errors in your understanding of dictionary usage. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
On a lighter note - nobody's come knocking on my door yet.

When I was buying Christmas Gifts at BHS last year, the staff had worked this out and were actually telling the customers that they would put through purchases in separate batches so that they (the customer) got the best deal - I was impressed!Surely OP should of put them through in 2 seperate transactions to get the deal.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
