I had one of these from the HSBC. I have had an account with them for years and took out a loan with them in 2007.

I didn't have any reason to suspect that they weren't genuine. I had to ring them yesterday to confirm that they'd received my questionaire, as I received another letter the same saying that they hadn't heard from me and then in a separate letter it said thanks for your claim we'll contact you in about 8 weeks. They asked me over the phone whether I'd dialled their number directly, my name, DOB, account number, Sort code, and the 1st and last numbers of my telephone banking number.
Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.67
  • I have also had one of these letters today. It does not look like from the questionaire, I will be providing any specific information other than a signature that they don't have. Doesn't ask for any account numbers etc. . However the Po Box address (PPI Team, PO Box 814, Leeds, LS1 9NW) is not the address given on Lloyds website, and neither is the telephone number 08453662234. The letterhead is a black and white photocopy. The first line of the text state "You took out PPI on the loans referenced above. "
I will be contacting Lloyds on the number from the website and provide an update.

If you put that number into https://www.saynoto0870.com it comes back as Lloyds as the following

    Lloyds tsb 0845 366 2234
Lloyds TSB 0845 366 2234 01422 868992 Was on a letter from PPI complaints helpline

The 01422 is an alternative number to avoid paying the 0845 charges
  • Hi, my husband received this letter and we were sceptical too, so we phoned an official Lloyds PPI number we found online and they confirmed that it is genuine. Exactly the same PO box number and address as the one stated above. Hope this helps.
  • my partner received a letter a couple of days ago exactly the same as described with same return address. have been to the local branch today and they were unsure to start with so they did some digging and even rung the number provided and have confirmed that it is real and that lloyds are sending out these to people they believe that they have mis sold to
  • I got one of these recently,
Does anyone know if we HAVE to fill in this form?

You dont have to fill the form in. However, if you wish to lodge a complaint, you will need to do so. Or you can phone them and give them the information over the phone.

  • just wanted to update on this, my partner filled out the forms that came with the letter he received and yesterday he received his offer amount and will receive payment in the next 28 days.
  • Just wanted to say that my husband received a letter from Halifax today regarding PPI and was suspicious as the letter head was black and not coloured like normal. He was nervous about sending all of the information required without knowing for certain if it was a scam or not. He telephoned Halifax directly and they confirmed that it was an official letter, they could bring up all his info with the reference number stated in the letter. He questioned as to why the address for Halifax was the same as the one for Lloyds, etc (PO Box 814, Leeds, LS1 9NW) but the woman on the phone couldn't say why. She was in Manilla though! Maybe there is a central team of people working for all of the banks??
