Jumping from Xbox to PS4? Vice Versa? Why?

I've had an Xbox for a few years now and have been very happy with it.
I won't be purchasing any console at launch, however, as I mostly game on the PC.
My decision to purchase an Xbox was due to a combination of factors - enough games that would not be on PC or where the PC version was somehow inferior, the promise of more media facilities on the Xbox (which there now are) and the fact that my friends who I occasionally play online games with also owned the Xbox 360.
I don't know of any of my friends who have thus far come down on side or the other (although they do all share a dislike for the Wii U) so there's no motivation to purchase a console based on that. Unless Microsoft and its partners discontinue media services on the 360 there's no reason to purchase a console for that reason either.
And as these will be new consoles, it will be a while before the library of games I would like to try but cannot with a PC has built up enough to sufficiently justify purchasing a console.
However, all that said, as it stands, I'd probably stick with the Xbox as I have increasingly found that my Xbox is used more as a media device than a gaming device anyway and while the PS3 has some of the media services I use through it, it doesn't have all. If that changes between now and when I might look into buying a console, and with other factors in mind, I might switch at that point.0 -
I'll be waiting around a year or so to make sure all the launch problems which usually happen get resolved by then. I'll go for whatever console is best after playing them and seeing the features at the time.
I own the PS3 and 360 just now but i preffer using the 360 for games and the PS3 for exclusives and media. All your base are belong to us.0 -
I will be jumping to PS4 from the 360 - and i will tell exactly why:
Microsoft were going to make games so that you can't give them away or loan them out - my what ground my gears with this money grabbing move is if i buy and a game and its a load of tosh i want to get some cash back for it, not be stuck with it. So PS4 it is, i know Microsoft did a U turn on this within a week of going public with it, but if they can ditch it in a week they can put it back just as fast, i don;t trust them.
Xbox will/was going to have to be online or "always on" and personally i want to play games offline at my own leisure, than having microsoft check up on me once every 24 hours online.
PS4 will be a hundred quid cheaper and have the games i want as well like Elder Scrolls 6 and all the others, so its good bye greedy xbox and hello Sony.Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -
Currently have both Xbox and PS3.
Will be going for PS4 once the price starts to drop and there's a decent catalogue of games out for it (we never buy a console at launch). Have hardly used our Xbox in months, the PS3 gets used lots... plus both our consoles have had faults fixed under warranty - had lots of issues getting the 360 fixed, but they were fantastic getting the PS3 sorted out next-day.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
