Jumping from Xbox to PS4? Vice Versa? Why?

As the title says, when the new generation of consoles are released, will you be jumping ship to another console? Or sticking with what you know?
I myself have mostly gamed on the 360 this generation. I have a PS3 but it mainly gathers dust. But for this new generation, I have pre-ordered a PS4.
I have a few reasons; Firstly, the obvious price difference. I don't like how Microsoft are pulling our pants down and making us buy Kinect's when we don't want them.
From a gaming point of view, I've become so bored with the generic shooters that seem to be the rage on 360 that I crave something with a bit more meat and story to it, I want to enjoy some RPG's and some good story telling. I just feel like Microsoft lack imagination.
So, are any of you in the same boat? Disagree? Maybe even jumping to Nintendo?

Personally I'm going to wait and see what games they launch with and, more importantly, when they actually launch. If there's a repeat of the current generation and the PS4 gets delayed for best part of a year, I'll probably end up with the xbox...0

I'll be sticking with what I know with Sony0

I'll also be sticking with what I know and that's the Xbox. However I will not be buying at launch0

I'll be getting a PS4 because it's what I'm used to and IMO it's a better console.0 -
Sony have already stated that the PS4 will launch in Europe at the end of this year (same as the US). They are fully aware that they screwed up by delaying the PS3 in Europe and they don't want the XBone to get a head start.
Just curious as to why you believe them this time? They kept on "stating" progressively later release dates for the PS3...they just failed to deliver on any of them...And you're right...xbox had a massive headstart in terms of building a community last time - which is why I'll happily go xbox if Sony stuff up again
Will you still wait for the PS4 if it's a year late?0 -
Have pre-ordered the PS4, as my xbox has been gathering dust for years.
Am looking forward to the new GTA to give the PS3 a good send off.
Might upgrade my projector at the same time, nothing like gaming on a 9ft screen0 -
Sony committed PR suicide with the launch of the PS3, losing the massive fanbase they had on the back of the PS2.
By the same token, Microsoft has done the same thing with the DRM and price. This is why Sony waited to see what they'd do, so they can blow them out the water.
Microsoft have the right idea with the always online and cloud services, because eventually we'll all end up down that road anyway, I just don't think consumers like being told they HAVE to do something. We want to make the decision in our own time.Knowledge is a tool, and like all tools, its impact is in the hands of the user.0 -

Sony have realised that Europe isn't an insignificant battleground, it's key to their future for gaming. The rumours (or they may be true now?) are that if there's any delay it'll be Japan that gets it (which won't go down well with the home crowd but Sony know that the vast majority of Japanese will still buy a PS4 over an XBone). I'd be very surprised if there was a delay for Europe.
Will I still wait if it is delayed? Yes, because I'm not sure yet if I'm getting on release anyway. I also believe that the PS4 is a better console (certainly the specs are better for some components) and will likely get a more diverse range of games than the XBone with Sony's policy towards indie developers.0 -
I would imagine I will be sticking with what I know, the xbox, however I wont be buying it at launch and waiting maybe 6 months to see what games have been brought out, and what bugs there have been found in the system.0

I would wait for the PS4, even if it was late.
I wouldn't buy a console I didn't really want just because it was out 6 months earlier than the other.
I've made my decision, and I'll stick to it.0
