TV Licence moan

A couple of weeks ago I decided to pay the remaining bill on my TV Licence since I had some spare cash left over that week. My licence is valid until November so I was looking forward to a break from having to pay it for a while.
However last week I received a new payment schedule from November onwards, but they want me to start the payments from last week which I haven't done, because i'm skint atm
Now I keep getting text reminders that my payments are overdue and that my licence maybe cancelled if I don't make the overdue payments immediately blah blah.
As, surely, i'm still covered by my current licence, is there anything they can do if I don't start paying the new schedule until my current one runs out?
