Still in a stake of shock but after 4 weeks of sending emails backwards and forwards, I have just been offered a full €1300 payout for a delayed flight in 2008. :T
I had to jump through a few hoops and politely decline an initial offer but to be fair once we got past that they have just agreed to pay out.
Won't go into detail in how I did it but my best advice is;
Good luck to anyone else claiming and if you need to claim from Sri Lankan I have the email address of the best person to contact.

Won't go into detail in how I did it but my best advice is;
- Be firm but polite
- Don't get too heavy too soon (avoid threatening legal action too soon)
- Have as much info as possible (I had to find orginal boarding pass!)
- Expect to have to jump through a few hoops - they will ask for irrelevant information that they don't expect you to have (see point above)
- Expect an inital lower offer/credit. Stick to your guns and ask for what you are entitled to i.e CASH.

That's good advice for Sri Lankan. Not sure it's quite so easy with some of the UK airlines, however. But glad you got lucky!0
