Wow a real 9 to 5 shift sounds good. Mine are day shifts, within the hours of 7 til 7, M-F
Sometimes do 10 hour shift, sometimes 8 or 9 but rarely 7.
Sounds sad when I read that back!

  • I work full-time hours of 37 which are compressed into 4 longer days over Mon-Thurs 0730-1745 with an hour lunch. The early starts are never a problem but sometimes the late afternoon can be quite tiring; however it's well worth it to have a Friday off. I started doing compressed hours five years ago and was the first to do this at my place of work. I was quite lucky in my line manager at the time who was progressive and open minded about work/life balance.
  • floating shifts between 8am and 8pm working 6 days a week atm :) (saturdays are shorter lol)

hubby works either 10pm til 6am or 11pm til 7am

it means for us no childcare costs which we like :)
The only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 5

4.30-5am until whenever it's done, whenever it's needed (minimum 5 days, usually 6 a week).

We're in a quiet patch at the moment, so I'm leaving the office about 2.30pm, although I have been known to leave at 6pm.

We live out of London and my DD's are schooled in London, which is why I don't leave until around 2.30.

OH works 2pm to 3am, 4 days on 4 days off.

The disadvantages of working for oneself........

Normal shift is 9am-6pm with the occasional 8am-5pm shift. I do one late shift a week which is 1pm-10pm and one weekend every other weekend (Usually a 9am-6pm shift on a Saturday or Sunday) I have a day off in lieu when I work a weekend day
  • Contracted hours are mon to fri. 9-5, but I often work 8-5 for that little extra overtime.
