I think it looks a bit small. Especially when the kids get bigger! It may be worth spending a little more and getting a bigger one. Try outdoormegastore.co.uk, worldofcamping.co.uk

There is another site who's name escapes me at the moment but I'm sure someone will be along in a moment to tell you

vango are a good reliable tent maker ............ but have a look at the halfords website

If you are new to camping you may or may not like it, so spend as little money as you need to just now and upgrade your kit later as needed - you can then sell on your old kit

We got a starter kit from halfords including tent (2 bedrooms , walk-in height) 4 sleeping bags , 2 double airbeds , and 2 torches/lanterns all fro the princely sum of £79 - we bought during one of their 10% off days.

It has been years since we went camping , but really enjoyed it when we used to go and really looking forward to going again

Hi, sorry I dont have reccomendations of which tent to buy but what i'd strongly advise is try to see tents actually set up because size can be quite deceiving when you only see the pic, they often look much bigger than what they are.

In your shoes id be inclined to get a 3 bedroomed tent because that way kids sleep in one room, adults in the next and the 3rd room is for storage of things like kids toys, food, etc etc

Try https://www.ukcampsites.co.uk and you will get lots of advice from people there, including site reccomendations, what you need to take etc etc.

Asada have their range reduced at the moment. Just today I bought a 6 man tent. Middle compartment you can stand in, on one side a room for 2, other side room for 4. Would be ideal for 2 adults and 2 kids all for £40...

I had that tent and hated it, it went straight back, it's way too small and you can not stand up in it, we camped for a weekend in it with our two children and on the way back we stopped at a camping place and bought the mother of all tents, we have not looked back since, you can get them for £200 and they are so easy to put up

    http://www.gelert.com/products/Tahoma_6_.aspx

it's a 6 birth that has two bedrooms, a massive living area which you can stand up in and sleep about 20 people in, a back door, a big front porch and grown in ground sheets

you can also get 9 birth ones with 3 bedroom pods, gives you that extra room for storing stuff

    We also take:
a gazibo, great for cooking in when it's raining outside etc,
2 fold up tables (tesco are doing them for £17 each) - one to eat from and one to prepare food on
chairs - you can get these for about £7 each
2 gas cookers - these are about £10 each, go for the ones that come in the case and take the gas canisters tht look like arosol cans
blow up beds - tescos are doing doubles for £10 at the mo, take blankets to lie on as you can sweat on these beds
pump that plugs into the car - these are about £7
electical hook up - these are great if you want to take mini fridges etc - they cost about £30 - look on ebay
lighting - if you have the hook up then you can take any lights from your home
now comes the decadance - I take 2 rugs with me, just the thin cheap rag type ones that roll/fold up - the ground can be freezing so these keep you warm under foot

you will also need a lorry to transport all this stuff

never heard of it, it looks ok though, try it out, if you don't like it just take it back saying that the seams leaked

Yeah , have seen it in costco........... looks huge , but where they had it set-up raised at about head level , I couldn't make out whether it had a sewn in ground sheet( i know the bedrooms will have , but couldn't see the main lounge:D area).
most of our "old" camping gear came from costco - tent , sleeping bags and even rucksacks :rotfl:

Yeah it is huge isnt it, thought at first it was the 10 man they had displayed but no it was the 8 man:eek:

Yes the groundsheet is sewn in, hubby lifted himself up to have a look and asked a member of staff.

Will put it up to see what it looks like properly, if no good costco will take it back as we have had no probs there with returns.

poe.tuesday - You really over-do it! We just take airbeds, duvet (Better than maggot bags), plastic plates and cutlery, lights, small stove and kettle. A few years ago in Cornwall, one of the other campers hoovered the tent each night! And the tip of not over-doing it is good, I know a lot of people who bought all the gear, then decided that they did not like camping.
