I'm pulling his leg. Sorry you were offended.

I've noticed that this third-party indignation happens a lot on here. I was pulling Thruglemire's leg on another thread and while Thrug took it in good part, someone else decided to take offense for him. What was particularly annoying was that while I 'knew' thrug from agreeing with him in some earlier discussions (and hence why I felt I was on safe ground to pull his leg), I'd never heard of this other chap (smallchanged?) who took such offence that he has now taken to stalking me about the forum and making nonsensical remarks after I post.

Have some people on here lost the ability to identify the difference between a good natured leg pull and an attack?

Don't bother. He tried to hide it for so long and was an alright poster. He's hounding the same people now, but hopefully if it's ignored he won't bother....though again, it appears rather than just leaving it, he seems to just try harder and harde to stir it up....seems he's trying to put certain posters against one another now.

Oh dear, it seems that you like to 'dish it out' but can't take it back. If by 'hounding' you mean diasgreeing and using knowledge and logic to undermine a point, then I'm guilty of hounding you Graham. Perhaps you'd like a forum where everyone cheers your posts and no one disagrees with you? You should post on that HPC site, you'd be welcome there. :)

As the that smallchanged character, all he seems to do is stalk people and make inane comments. I can't recall him entering into any discussions at all. :(

I must be far from average then, I don't spend anything like that on holidays.

On a good money saving tips, I have found travelodge/premier inn sales to be good for a weekend away in another part of the country.

We spend quite a lot more than that - holidays are one of our spending priorities. We don't really buy "stuff", our TV is state-of-the-art 1990, for example.

But his year, so far, OH and our son have been skiing in Norway, to Israel for Passover, and Rome at half-term. That's not unusual.

Are we overlooking the real reason why rates wont go up?
Yes we could all adjust our personal lives and the chancellor knows it.
But any reduction, even a modest one, in disposable income means businesses supplying all the non essential lifestyle items would start to go under. That's vote-losing instability. We are meant to consume!

    Don't worry about it, OffGrid.
This devon-smallchanged tandem and their tactics are quite well known around these parts.
Anyone with dissenting views is considered a threat and needs to be discredited with claims of being a sockie. They're not interested in debate, they're just here to 'win' arguments. Their thanks count is their life's achievement.
For now, you are in their crosshairs. Pretty soon they'll move on to someone else.
I do hope you stick around. :)

Is it any different than when a group of rampers and eternal optimists gang up together? :)

The optimistic view is grounded in fact and history, though.

What the property nay-sayers want is a little unclear, but it seems that their views and motives are fundamentally negative and selfish.

I would hate to think that there is anyone out there wasting money on rent, when buying a property would probably be cheaper - simply because they listened to a nay-sayer's view of the market.

So having the view that all people should waste less of their money on housing costs is a selfish view is it?
