I'm a fan, OH and I have thought about having one for our next dog (a little while off though). Some of my family aren't so keen though, so I'd have to consider that (family are our first choice for dogsitters if we wanted to have a holiday..but there's plenty of alternatives I suppose, if they really refused)

Trust me, your family will soon be converted!

My mum used to think they were ugly, my sister wouldn't go near him when I got him as she was terrified and my other sister took over a year to finally feel comfortable with him!

But now they all love him because of his gorgeous personality! Their image is just for show, they're softies really!

Also - mine has a pomeranian play mate who he loves! Hardly a ferocious dog!

Here is a photo of them together....

Considering I have a GSD and a Rottie cross, and my stepdad has a fondness for Dobermanns, you'd think they wouldn't be so hung up on a breed's stereotype! Actually, I think it's the head shape more than anything else, but like you say, they'll probably be converted if we were to go ahead and get one anyway.

OH would like a bit of a dog-free gap when our current two pass on, so we don't have the tie for a little while, but I have suggested fostering as a way to be a little more flexible - so may well try to foster an EBT or two to make sure the breed suits us, and to win the family around a bit first!

OH and I are both big fans of the tri-colours. I very nearly applied for one when I was looking for a second dog, but I got swayed back to GSDs (always had them growing up) so gave him a miss and ended up with Casper instead..but one day!

I love the fawn coloured ones...I want a female called Rosie!

The are gorgeous....tell you what how about you take mine for a few days and give me a break too haha. Just kidding, as crazy as he is I wouldn't change him for the world!

Fostering sounds like a good idea! :)

I must confess they're not my cup of tea, appearance wise. But almost every one I have met has been a fantastic dog, with a great personality. I always think they seem like a breed that makes great family pets. :)

Most people I know who were never keen on their looks were won over by their personality. They are amazing dogs and despite what a lot of people think, they do make great family pets!

Mine absolutely loves children and follows my nephew around!

I hate the bad press Bull Breeds get, it is totally uncalled for and humans are the ones to blame, not the dog!

  • We lost our staffy girl almost 2 years ago now and just starting to look for a new addition.
Funny this thread came up because we have decided EBT is our choice of breed and have just started looking for a puppy :)

Glad you've chosen an EBT, they're fab dogs. Make sure you show us photos...I'm a sucked for a puppy!
