Cutting my own blinds down has saved me a fortune on having to have them specially made to fit my windows.

I think the key bit is taping the blades together and cutting them as a pack to prevent break-out and tearing. I haven't got a jigsaw so removed them from the blind and cut them on a powered cross-cut saw, it was more time consuming and fiddly but it does ensure the cuts are straight and you can throw away any blades with tearing/break-out.
