That's why I won't set anymore DDs up with Tesco.

I think you might be over-reacting there. Why would Tesco mind if you deposit more money with them? Even if it's only a couple of quid, it's a couple of cheap quid for them, which they can lend out at a higher rate. Every penny helps, as they say....

Only reason I could think of they might object is if the DDs are costing them more than they can make of the money you deposit. So anything below, say £1, could be considered as a p*sstake. There might also be a system limit on how many DDs they allow (this would be higher than 10, I think). These are the only two reasons I can think of why I wouldn't want / wouldn't be allowed to set up yet another DD there.

    @ Derrick :)

Nationwide haven't made any kind of DD insistence either for 5% rate or for account switch.

If your Coventry account is used as switching account it will stay open unless you choose to close it, those who do switch direct debits they will stay active on old account unless cancelled.

Yes I was aware of that, but I was replying to your point about the £70.00 ish from Quidco:-
And 70.00 ish from a Cashback Site for doing very little. ;)

To get the £70.00 from Quidco I do need to use Nationwides switching service: -

    From Quidco: -
"Get £70 for an approved and opened new Nationwide FlexDirect account when you transfer to Nationwide from a non-Nationwide current account using their Account Transfer Service"

It is my understanding that if you use a banks switching service they will move everything from the "old" bank to the new one including DD's and SO's.

Do SO's count when switching like this, or have they got to be DD's?

Is this a same day FP service? Their FPs from savings accounts arrive the day after they are requested at the earliest.

Sorry, maybe not very clear, I can move money in and out of Coventry current account using FP within 2 hours, (have done it), then I can move the money to or from the savings account instantly, ergo all done within 2 hours.

When I logged into my Nationwide account today I found they had opened another of these loyalty accounts with 15 years service. So I now have two of these accounts. The first three numbers of the accounts were different - the number before the /. Rules state you are only allowed one and I only applied for one. Still not received any paperwork so will contact them when that arrives as don't really want two accounts.

Not sure if it's been reported elsewhere but esaver plus is down from 1.7% to 1.25% from 1st sept 2013.
Well somebody has to pay for the Board's fabulous remuneration packages and we certainly can't expect borrowers to suffer the costs!

Or to be more accurate, they can't pay what are now becoming market-leading rates on these products ... or they'll end up with more money than they can lend out.

Lets have a mass withdrawal...from Nationwide.

Lets nominate this Saturday as pull your wad out day !
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
