This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Another chilly night but am informed by Mr Weatherman that the sun is on the way so some washing has been risked on the line.
DH is now in middle of last lot of exam marking and there was much cursing and swearing at the software last night, he couldn't get it to work and his supervisor said it has been like that for the last 2 days. Yet they are all expected to meet targets and paid according to them
Salads for lunch and something with lamb mince for dinner.
Fighting to get car insurance down at the moment, it's always expensive but has gone up again.
Well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning TTFTM, Islandmaid and all who follow,
JackieO Hope you enjoyed Robbie.
Molly, LW, Hilstep, Judi Hugs.
Been MIA the last few days due to being knocked out by a really bad cold. Been managing work and that's just about it. It didn't help that I had to get up at 4 30 on Monday morning to drop DD1 at school for a Germany trip and that I managed to damage my big toe by "falling off" a sandal and scraping it along the road!
DD2 had a piano exam yesterday, she said it went ok.
Anyway, I better get moving.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning all,
The sun is shining so it looks like it is going to be a nice day.
TTFTM, my hubby is finding the same problem with his insurance. It is due this month.
It is lovely to have dd home from her holiday but my goodness, it was nice not having the mess and washing! The holiday washing wasn't a problem, she did that whilst i was at work yesterday. She had two changes of clothes during the day and changed again to go to work, so that was three in total. All goes in the laundry bin. When she has a shower she uses a towel to stand on, a towel for her hair and a towel to go around her. She had two showers yesterday, so six different towels . I think we will be having words, or maybe i should say, we will be having words.
Tea tonight is chicken with potatoes and vegetables.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Morning all:j:j
Overcast here at the moment,
Tired this morning,
We did our Aldi shop yesterday, and used our £5 off voucher out of the daily mirror last week.
When we got back from shopping, We had a phone call from the twins school,
Twin two had been sick at school and they asked us to pick her up.
She was burning up by the time we got her home,. she lay on my chair most of the afternoon. She did eat a bit a bit of dinner but only the salad. Within half an hour of eating she had been sick again.
She has had quite a good sleep, so we will see what she is like when she gets up, But she will not be going to school today, They have a 24 hour rule were they can not go back until 24 hours after they have been sick, Defeats the point really when she was sick In the dinner hall,
Not much on for me today,
My wife is not at work until this afternoon,
Twin two will be going to school as normal.
Iv not read much of yesterdays thread so I'm off to do that now,
Have a great day everyone
enjoy:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -
Morning all,
Bit grey here, lets hope it brightens up, Little dog had an upset tummy in the night poor thing, I am just glad OH got up first this morning
FS I feel your pain, I have now given my dd her own 2 towels, one for hair and one for body, these are washed at regular intervals, but in between times she hangs them up to air, if she forgets to hang them then she has to use a damp towel, glad your dd had a good time cant wait to get mine back.
Scampi chips and peas tonight and Tecso are delivering, I will also do a wash ands get it on the airer.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone :j
Well, it looks like it's going to be a very nice today weatherwise. Just packed hubby off to work with a homemade cornish pasty....hopefully he survives the experience lol!:rotfl:
I'm going to have a nice quiet pottering about day today...probably famous last words....but I'm planning to clean up the living room and put the washing away and that's about it.
I've put dinner in the slow cooker, it's the Hairy Dieters lamb tagine, it was blooming gorgeous the last time I made it so fingers crossed this one will be as successful.
I expect my eldest will be around once she has dropped her daughter off to school so the kettle will be on.
I'm finding getting up early with my OH is getting easier, he always used to let me lie in and he'd get up with the kids and then I would let him have a lie in over the weekend. Now the girls are older and don't need me to get them breakfast etc but I still get up so I can have a cuppa with him before work. I'm really hoping he gets paid tomorrow as we are living on whatever is in the cupboards and freezer and it's geting perilously low in both lol.
Anyway, the kittens are swinging from the hem of my nightshirt and old grumpy cat is looking plaintively in the direction of his food bowl so I will say goodbye. Hope everyone has a good day and gentle hugs for all that are unwell. Cheers m'dears x0 -

I've recently changed my insurance - M&S wanted an extra £110 (on a policy of £287 ) so I kicked them into touch and did a Compare The Meerkat search. RAC came out best value for the same cover, but there were bargains to be had if I didn't want protected NCB & windscreen cover.
When I rang to cancel the girl at M&S said "you'd be foolish to renew as we can't match that price". Funnily enough, RAC was much more expensive to go via their own site as a member - don't understand that at all!!0 -
Morning everyone
Re insurance - know what you mean I had the renewal for our buildings and contents insurance come through and it had gone up and was a ridiculous amount of money so did the comparison check and hey presto - my current insurer popped up along with quotes from several others - and I used the figures from my renewal, cover was exactly the same and the quote came back £300 cheaper - so I rang them and asked if that was correct and the girl replied I can't get your renewal as cheap as that but you are most welcome to purchase online at the cheaper price as this is an introductory price with a discount - anyone can arrange and purchase that way even if they are an existing customer??!!! The girl couldn't give me an answer when I asked why I couldn't just renew at the lower price as they had offered that online anyone! Sounds a strange way to do business to me!
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Cloudy but sun trying to break through the clouds, dry underfoot but the air is fresher. Washing on the line, another now in the WM. Plants to be watered.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was lamb casserole, HG new potatoes, carrots, broccolli, green beans and peas. Tonight we will be having omlettes as I seem to have 2 big boxes of eggs that haven't been started - so need to use some up, we will be having HG new potatoes and salad with omlettes. I must put a jam and cream filling in the sponge cake - that can be dessert for the menfolk, I'll either not have dessert or I'll have a yogurt.
Friend came over yesterday for coffee and chat - managed to keep on top of everything so I got some evening without having to do stuff I would normally have got done pre-dinner etc. So managed to watch some of the tennis - excellent match - both deserved to win.
Today I will be popping to next town first thing - in May I bought myself a double pack of new bras (nice one's that weren't cheap) and 1 I've worn 2-3 times and the wire has come out already - so still have my receipt so taking them back this morning. I'm really disappointed because I've still got some of the same sort that I bought a year ago and they are fine - hoping they haven't changed supplier and now the quality is not going to be so good.
Once I get back I will get stuck into the ironing etc before it gets too hot - need to pack etc too, so will just potter along and get everything done - loving this warm weather and being able to put a line of washing out and it's dry before you know it!
Have a good day - remember the suncream if you're out in the sun!
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning everyone ,I'm back in the land of the living again I had a wonderful time at Wembley and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a very looong day and so yesterday I spent just recovering
:) He is a fantastic entertainer and well worth every penny He was on stage for two hours almost non-stop.68 thousand people when nuts and he had them in the palm of his hand
:)Olly Murs wasn't bad either ,although he's not really my cup of tea but I could see what the youngsters liked about him.Great show, fantastic sets and a brilliant firework display at the end.Food and beverages were extortionate prices though, water at £2.50 a bottle (we bought ours at Lidl's across the road at 29p) and luckily my eldest DD had warned us of the price of the food so we had a meal also across the road at a Wimpy bar for a fraction of the £8.50 they wanted to charge for a burger and a handful of chips. So we brought some snacks and drinks to keep us going whilst in there and left the over-priced food and drinks to those who had more money than sense
:)
Seating was comfortable, and the toilets very clean which made a change from the old Wembley stadium.
Today I have a crochet class at 10.00 with the U3A that I joined a few weeks ago.
My builder is galloping on with my decorating which I'm pleased about I'm hoping it will be all done by next Monday .
I watched the tennis yesterday and wasn't it nail-biting for Murray I'm glad he's made it through though. He deserves to win, as he is so dedicated to doing his best.
Right time I had some coffee to kick start the day
DGS Mikey is away with his school trip until tomorrow night so no school run for a couple of days, just have to be at DDs for the middle two boys getting home at 3.15 this afternoon .
Have a good day I have my sitting room curtains to hang out today as they have been in the wash and the weather looks promising so they will be dry by tonight ,fingers crossed
Cheers chums
