Video Calling from The Canaries
Hi folks,
Am going on holiday to Lanzarote next week and we want to keep in touch back home and video call our granddaughter. Just bought a Nexus 4 and switched my phone contract (which has just ended) so a sim only 12 month contact with 3. Although I am contemplating using the wifi at the hotel to Skype with.
Are there any tips for making sure that I don't get stung with extra charges while out there????
We went to Barcelona earlier this year and I kept the phone off for most of the time, but I did switch it on a couple of time. However stupidly I had my previous phone (Galaxy Ace) set to auto update and it started to update my apps. By the time I realised it had used up quite a bit of unauthorised data and I came back home to a bill twice as much I usually get. I certainly don't want that to happen again.
Thanks alot.....

You need to check with your network which (if any) of their partners over there support video calling for roamers and the costs.0

Android doesn't do old school video calling, so you are going to be limited to Skype/Hangouts via WiFi (unless you want silly data roaming charges).0

Theoretically it can be a local sim, not roaming.0
