My friend has Entertainment extra with sports HD for £54.50, can she reduce this cost while keeping all the same channels? I mean with the new package combos as apposed to just getting a discount/special offer. She spoke to a chat advisor online who told her it would be £36.75 with movies and sport in HD, which is presumably wrong and he's got his packages confused? It wasn't a special offer. He seemed to be adding the HD pack without actually adding the sports (or movie which she doesn't want) pack as well. He said several things which didn't sound right, so she's more confused than when she started!

    Entertainment is £21.50,
Entertainment Extra is an additional £5
Entertainment Extra + is an additional £5 ( adds HD to existing channels)
    Sky Sports 1 and 2 is £22
Sports and /or Movies HD an additional £5.25.

    Grand total:£ 58.75.

    Movies is £16 more.

Before any offers or discounts, and prices are going up in September.

This makes sense and explains where he got £36.75 from, he'd just forgotten the £22 for sports to make it up to the £58.75 total you detailed.

After getting nowhere with the online advisor, she rang instead and this time was told that after the price changes she would be paying £49.50, so no idea where that figure came from and it must be wrong too!

So from her current £54.50, she can't get it cheaper (other than a discount offer) and in September it will go up by £5ish?

It's all about haggling now. If she is out of her minimum period get her to call them up and see what they can offer.

Sports are going up by £1 and Entertainment Extra by 50p so £1.50 a month unless she has multi-room as well and that will be an extra £1.

    Thanks.

She "called to cancel" and was offered 25% off, but was told this would make her new price £45.31 working off of her new price in September.

The price would have to be £60.41 for 25% off to be £45.31, so that doesn't sound right either!

Using the £1.50 increase she should be expecting, I would think her new price would be either £56 or £60.25. So if it's £60.25 then 25% off would be £45.19 which I suppose is close enough to £45.31! Maybe the call operator just got her maths a bit wrong.....

I guess time will tell and she'll have to wait until she gets the next few months bills.

I've had several chats with Sky regarding their billing system and my lack of comprehension. They agreed that not even some of their people understand it.
My problem at the time was due to paying 12 months lone rental and still getting the monthly charge!
Took a couple months to sort, but its all right now, if fact its a gas.............:-)
